In him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. I thought of this verse as I was thinking of Terry. I continually hear the statement – vegetative state. But what does that mean? I heard one person say that she had no consciousness. How could that be said? Because people that don’t have the life of Jesus in them can not understand true life. Terry is alive and she is consciencous. Years ago I conducted camps to the disabled. We had a few people that were in the same condition that Terry is in. I will tell you without doubt that they had conscienousness. They responded to the presence of God. It was incredible. Unsaved man only thinks life is in the brain, Saved man knows life is in the spirit. Terry’s spirit will never die – only her body which our judicial system is killing. I want so badly to curse these “bent on death” people, but that is not my Lord’s desire. So I say, Father, forgive them, they don’t know what they’re doing.

I know what you mean. My heart is grieved for poor Terri too. Have you checked out the website they made for her? It even has clips that you can watch of her interacting with people and responding to things. The site is: http://www.terrisfight.net/ if you wanna check it out? Anyway, you and your family have a wonderful Easter! Derek and I were hoping to make it to Yankton for Easter, but the gas prices are just way to high right now! Poor Maliyah hasn’t made it to see any of her biological family yet
Hi, I stumbled across your site through a blogring. Interesting post. Could you give the reference to the verse you quoted at the beginning?
I agree with you on your points. It is a very scary thing when the judicial system can start setting certain standards on the quality of life and then judge someone’s worth to that unbiblical standard. I commend the Scheduler family on the way they have handled the situation.
hey! sorry i havent exctly been on l8ly. but you asked me what life the point of life is. i think that there is many reasons for life. that you were created for one purpose. to serve God. there is no such reason for accidental deaths, God takes you when your work is done. you’ve acheived what He sent you to accomplish.
write back at my site!!! dyingforchrist

I am confused about all this. I am a very conservative Christian…very pro-life, etc. I taught special ed right out of college. And I had students that had no capacity to learn…not students with typical learning disablilties. But, they were responsive and in no way would I think anyone should decide they ought not live. Anyway, my confusion is because I don’t know if I’m clear on her medical state. If her condition is “brain damage”, “mental retardation” or the like, no one has the right to decide she should die……not even her. But if she is brain dead, that is different. But what exactly does “permanent vegetative state” mean? And how can one determine the difference between that and severe brain damage? There are some very fine lines in all this. It definitely shows all of us that we need to decide what our wishes are in severe circumstances and get them in writing.
my purpose in life is to serve my Lord Jesus Christ with all my heart and all my soul and to shine my light for him!!!
