Hurricane Dennis is said to have been punishment to Florida – after all Dennis spelled backwards is sinned. I personally don’t know but if that was the case why wasn’t New Orleans hit instead of Pensacola? I don’t understand how God deals with people or countries all I know is that he does. The bottom line is that sin has created the situations that make it favorable for devastation. After dealing with his people in Ezekiel, God makes a statement: “Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with you in the days of your youth.” Wow, that’s what I was looking for. In the midst of every storm is an eye. Ezekiel 16:60-63 is the eye. Our God is full of grace. He puts peace in the midst of turmoil. Tomorrow I’ll describe the eye of hurricane Helena – it was incredible.

My Aunt, Uncle and baby cousin live in Florida and their home was hit by Hurricane Dennis. Luckily, they were in Minnesota for that time visiting relatives. Their neighbors and community started fixing up what got damaged. They didn’t get hit as bad as some other people in Florida, but I was wondering if you could pray for them. Thanks!

working at the hospital this summer i’ve run across quite a few people who have a theology that makes them believe bad things happen because God is testing them. i have a tough time with this theology because the God I know and love doesn’t do these types of things to make us love him more. great post!
I am from Pensacola and lived through Hurricane Ivan. I decided to stay for the storm and although we were fine and had little damage compared to most, I wouldn’t want to go through it again. Imagine how worried I was to learn of Hurricane Dennis. I mean, I’m way over here in Australia. I still have family and friends in the area. But my mom, who is about as close to God as anyone I’ve ever known, said to me after Ivan hit us last September, God creates these hurricanes to clean house. It’s nature’s way of cleaning house. The God I know isn’t vindictive and doesn’t hold a grudge. If anything, Pensacola has shown its resolve and strength in time of devastation and need. I’m sure the people that named these hurricanes didn’t put the perspective names backwards before making that final decision. Just my thought..
thats cool i never thought about it that hurricane dennis speeled backwards is sinned. seeya
But isn’t there always a storm of one form or another? What does physical danger or death really mean? Does God have need to deal in such things, or is He content to let us kill ourselves off however we choose? This quickly leads to a question of Bible interpretation and such that goes on forever, so I won’t go much farther. I just wanted to opin that a hurricane isn’t necessarily a worse situation that a place without any storms in the weather.
