I have to tell you a couple funny stories. We went to a Chinese restaurant. As we were headed back to the cabin my 5 year old stuck the fortune cookie paper in his ear. We had to take him to the emergency room. (I suspect the fortune was: "you'll go places you've never thought" - ha ha) Any ways when we pulled up to the hospital my 10 year old son, just waking up, opened his eyes and said, "Church again?" We laughed.
Another - (This wasn't funny at the time.) We were headed home and my 14 year old daughter had written something on a paper and put it in the front window. I didn't think anything of it at first. Then I asked her what it was. At first she didn't want to show me but the sign said, "Help Me". You could imagine all the thoughts that went through my mind. Police stopping us, etc. I asked her what possessed her to do that and she told me it was in a movie. I asked her what happened in the movie. She said the Police stopped the Dad and took the kids. I was speechless after that.
I've been in Proverbs, gleaning a lot of wisdom. Or I would like to think I am even if my kids aren't ha ha. I read this Proverbs 2:12,13 this morning. Wisdom, discretion will keep you from evil. I don't know about you but I'm continually aware of the evil that attempts passage into my heart and affects people around us. This verse causes me to go deeper into God's word. I spoke to a guy yesterday. He's going through a very difficult time in life. He told me he couldn't understand why he's being punished. (He doesn't go to church or pursue God in any way.) I told him that the crop we plant is the crop we harvest. A farmer can turn blue while praying for wheat but will not have his prayer answered if he planted corn. This particular man sowed, deception & manipulation, now he and his family is suffering from his crop. I want to make sure I'm planting the good seeds.
