In the last verses of Mark 14, Jesus says, “Stay Alert” several times. We will have to give a report when the appointed time comes. I’m a CASA representative. I have to make reports to the court on behalf of children. Monthly I make a report on how many hours I spend on the CASA case. I thought about that as I read these verses. I’m held accountable. God will hold all Christians accountable for what we did with the gifts He has given us.

Stay alert, you do not know when the appointed time is.
I go to work when it’s still dark. The other morning I was traveling past the park, ready to come to a stop. I saw a couple on the side of the road that was waving at someone. I didn’t see the “some ones”. They had dark clothes on and was in the cross walk. Just at the last second I saw them in my headlights. I stopped. They pasted, I drove on. I was completely alert now because I had a close call. I could of easily stopped closer to the stop sign instead of behind the cross walk and hit them. It would of been because I was drowsy. – I wasn’t alert. We need to stay spiritual alert because we don’t know when the Father will say, “It’s time. Come on home.” -
I’ve been reading verses concerning the Olivet Discourse. Jesus talks about the end of the earth. He then says, “Look at the parable of the fig tree”. I love reading sites from Israel. On one site was a picture of a fig. (I had to ask because I didn’t know what it was.) It brought this verse alive to me. Which caused me to go deeper. When certain things become “alive” it will be the end of the age. What things? Israel for one. Israel you will not only survive but you will grow branches that reach this entire world. No one will be able to cut you down, although darkness will try.

I’ve been thinking about the two Fox journalists that were recently released. They had to make statements stating they converted to Islam in order to assure their release. I asked myself what I would do in that circumstance. I would hope my faith is strong enough to say I wouldn’t do anything to denounce Jesus, but then Peter said the same thing.

In the tween class this morning, we talked about the supernatural. I read several chapters of Acts to prepare for it and I was in awe of what God does through people. The power of the Holy Spirit flowing through someone is what this world needs. I did have to ask myself why I don’t see more miracles. In my prayer time I sensed God telling me that it’ll take more dedication to prayer and His word.

Olivet Discourse
Jesus sat on the Mount of Olivet and answered His disciples questions:
1. How will these things come about?
2. What will be the sign of the Son of Man returning?
3. What will be the sign of the end of the world?
I’ve read Jesus’s answer. It’s very disturbing because it deals with conflict & betrayal. We’ve probally all been betrayed and it hurts. Jesus said expect it in the last days. When it happens depend upon the Holy Spirit. Now that brings comfort. I like Kurt Franklins song 911. He has a phone conversation with TD Jakes. In that conversation Kurt speaks about the craziness of this age. Darkness is rolling in strangely. Only the Holy Spirit brings us the comfort of the Father, through the Son.
