    Speeding
A speeding motorist was caught by
radar from a police helicopter in the sky.

    An officer pulled him over
and began to issue a traffic ticket.

“How did you know I was speeding?”
    the frustrated driver asked.

The police officer pointed somberly toward
    the sky.

“You mean,” asked the motorist, “that even He is against me?”

INTERESTING FACT:  The population of the USA has reached 300 million today.

  • Ha!  That’s hilarious!  I hope I didn’t offend you or anyone with my last comment.  I was actually trying to help.  I hope you are feeling better now.

  • hah, um, thanks, i guess.

  • Phew!  I’m glad!  I respect your beliefs, too, which is why I wrote from a religious perspective.  I like your comment on the US population capping 300 million.  We live in a critical junction in history in terms of our affect on the environment, which we are doing in multiple ways that are all fueled by out population growth rate.  Some people think the problem is going away because some nations exhibit declines in growth rate and these people believe that the rate needs to be increased.  This is a facade, however, and any decline in population growth rate will be due to the further depletion of natural resources.  The next few decades will be the deciding factor on whether humans will continue their destructive trends.  At the current rate, ecologists estimate that up to half of life on Earth will be extinct by the end of this century, and researchers with the UN estimate that the world population will reach 9 billion by 2030.  The World Wildlife Fund also estimates that in the past three decades alone, humanity has consumed 30 % of Earth’s natural resources, a rate which leaves no time for natural regeneration by ecosystem functions (if those ecosystems still exist).  Biologists believe that even if the global extinction event were ended right now, 10 to 15 million years would be required to recover the level of biodiversity that was present at the start of the century.  These concept seem abstract to most people (especially because they don’t see species going extinct in front of them) and they tend to want to avert responsibility, but I’m dedicating my life to getting people everywhere to understand what we are really up against and that we have the ability to change our behavior and avoid worsening this catastrophe.
