Month: December 2006

  • 2006 Highlight

I’ve read a lot of Xanga entries that recapped the year of 2006. I picked one:  The greatest highlight of 2006 was when a group of us went to Biolixi, Mississippi – this past summer.  We conducted a Kid’s Krusade.  It took us nearly 24 hours to travel there. We stayed somewhere on the way there but on the way back we traveled straight home.  We had so much fun.  The best part was going into the fast food places, handing out flyers and balloons.  Many children came to the krusade and we had a lot of fun.

What is the highlight from 2006 in your life?

  • I’m developing my vision for 2007.  I want it to be family centered.  What can the church to support the family?  I’d like your ideas.

“Jerk” Jamaican ketchup.  I found it on Ketchup world internet.  What unique thing is in your house?

We got a new dog.  Everyone loves him.  I wanted to call him Data but my family is not Star Trek fans – so his name is Peety.  (He doesn’t like his shoes.)

  • Weather

It’s raining here right now and has been all day.  We’re on the edge where it could be rain or it could be snow.  I’m still amazed that we have had no measurable snow this season.  It’s very strange for South Dakota.

What’s the weather like where you live?

I thought this was “neat”.  It’s a monopoly game of the city of Yankton, South Dakota. It has a lot of businesses and places in Yankton.  My church even has a spot on the board.  I look forward to playing it.  (Doesn’t seem right that you can buy a church. lol)

  • View

I was thinking this morning of how people view their world.  One of the reasons I like Xanga is because I can get 1st hand information.  I don’t have to depend on the news anymore to get me information from around the world.  We can now get 1st hand information.  We live in a world that we can get a panoramic view.  We can look at something from many different angles.  When I go somewhere I get on Google Earth and look at the satellite maps  for that area.  I become familiar with the landscape before I go there.  Another view I depend heavily on is the view through my Father’s eyes.  The Kingdom of God is in its own realm.  I submit to the King and I get to view through His eyes.  It’s extremely dark so I have to look intensely and check and recheck my source – the Bible.  I use to view my world only through my own eyes.  I was so deprived.  Now I’m alive and able to see beyond myself.

  • A friend of mine died totally unexpected on December 23rd.  He’s in heaven now.  His tribute: Fred Jasso

  • Hurricane

A memory I had was of Hurricane Helena.  We were living in Mississippi at the time when Helena came through.  The eye came right through Gulfport.  It was the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen.  I was able to go out into the eye of the storm.  It was so peaceful; the sky was so beautiful; colorful birds were flying around.  It was so serene.  I’ve often thought of that 20 minutes.  There may be a storm around me but if I make it to the eye, I’ll be at peace.  If things are hitting me I must be in the wrong place.

Thanks to those of you, who posted your memories.  I love reading precious memories.  I’d love to hear some more.

  • Rewind & Play it Again

There are movies & shows I love to watch over and over again.  (I personnally can’t get enough of Little House on the Praire) Paul told Timothy to put in  remembrance all these things.  Remembrance is taken from a greek word anamimnesko, a compound of the words ana and mimnesko.  The word ana means again or to repeat something.  Mimnesko means to be reminded of something. There are memories in our life with God that we should be rewinding and playing again & again.  It would certainly keep us from playing the bad memories over and over again.    What are some of you memories that you would like to play over again in your mind?
