  • Would-be groom jailed for swallowing ring.  In Britian -What do you think the details were?

Word of the Day: Abject – It’s an adjective for: of the worst or lowest kind, despicable

What do you find abject?  What do you think God finds abject?

Greek Word: eucharisteo - An outpouring of wonderful feelings that freely flow from the heart in response to someone.

In your life who is the person that matches that description?

Insight into me:  I have a flexible schedule.  I set my own hours.  I prefer early mornings.  Here in Yankton the traffic lights blink all night long and change to regular at 6:00 am.  Every morning it’s a game to me to get through all the traffic lights before they go regular.  I do it most of the time.    What’s an insight into your personality?

Many parents doubt their discipline  -published in the January issue of the journal Clinical Pediatrics
     — About a third of parents believe that their methods of disciplining their children are not all that effective.  (Many used the same methods from their own parents.)
How do you feel about your parenting methods?  What works? What doesn’t?

  • XANGA

    Why do you Xanga?

I love diversity.  I enjoy others view – even if I don’t agree with them.  I like the insight into another persons thought process.

Spoonerism – An error in a sentence, resulting in a funny meaninful phrase.
Reverence W.A. Spooner (1844-1930)  is who the word is coined after.
Example:    Is the bean dizzy?  verses Is the Dean busy?  The famous one in the Nixon White House was from a reporter who said, “I have a White sowse horse.”  verses “I have a White House source.”  Say that fast!

Have you heard any slip ups or spoonerism?  Can you think of any?

When you don’t know where you’re going any road will get you there.

    To my teen xanga friends:
If you think a razor is the answer: Know this the Word of God is a sharp two edged sword – It cuts the pain by creating healthy pain.  Time does not heal all wounds – only cleaned out ones.  You don’t have to bleed for Him to hear you.

I start my day (after praying) many times by turning up the music and playing Louis Armstrong’s “Wonderful World”.  How do you start your day?
Right now I’m listeing to TobyMacs -Let’s get this party started.  -Everyone, open up your mind and let your soul be free.

  • Purity

What color eyes do you have?

Are you careful as to what you see with your eyes?

I love purity.  Why?  Because when my eye sight is pure I can have true creativity.  I can see clearly.  It’s not just an outward look, when I see people.  It’s seeing who they really are.  -the true beauty.

We had a special treat yesterday.  My Pastor is in Nigeria, Africa right now.  He called back to the church yesterday to give a report.  We heard him through the speaker systems.  After hitting the huge winds in Amsterdam and landing, (He said it was an bad experience.) they flew onto Nigeria.  A lot of the luggage stayed in Amersterdam.   Several of the South Dakotan Pastors had to buy a Nigerian suit for Sunday.  He gave a great report of good things happening in Nigeria

New Findings Show Parents’ Religious Attendance and Family Religious Activities Are Key Influences on Teens’ Sexual Activity & Contraception

Article in the Journal of Adolescent Health Reports Religious Denomination Not a Factor

WASHINGTON, DC—According to a new study reported in this month’s issue of the Journal of Adolescent Health, the more frequent a parent’s religious attendance and the more a family participates in religious activities, the more likely an adolescent delayed the timing of his/her first sexual experience.  However, if an adolescent did have sex, stronger religious beliefs and family religious activities were linked to reduced contraceptive use at first sex among males.

Two specific dimensions of religion – parental attendance and family activities – delayed the age of sexual onset on all groups examined except blacks.  More frequent parental religious attendance was an important factor for males and females, and whites and Hispanics. Male, female and white teens whose families engaged in religious activities on a daily basis delayed sexual initiation.  Interestingly, specific religious denomination was not linked to teens’ sexual activity.

  • Campaign

Who would you like to see as the next President & why?

Sodzo – greek word for save.  It’s a word that means take action and do it fast.

Scenario: You see someone in your line of influence that is doing something that will harm themselves or others.  It may be little or it may be large.  Do you try to direct them in the “right” way or do you leave them alone?  How? Why?

  • Knowlege without application eventually becomes boring and unfulfilling – every time.

Do you get bored?  What do you do to motivate yourself?

    Today's Cartoon
My Pastor played a joke on my wife last April fools day.  So my wife has been looking for an opportunity to get him back.  She found it during the first commercial of 24 this past week.  She called him and told him the police had just called our house saying that someone just ran into the church. (He’s a fan of 24 and she knows it.) She told him the police said the guy went by the name of JB.  He was just about ready to leave for the church when she told him the intials stood for Jack Bauers.  She got him good.

Scientists have said the Artic has risen 2 degrees.  Do you believe in Global Warming?
How many times do you look at yourself in the mirror?  Do you like what you see?

One of my favorite historical figures is Tad Lincoln, President Abraham Lincoln’s son.  Tad would many times run into his Dad’s meetings (several times during important war meetings) and ask his Dad a question.  Abraham always stopped what he was doing and answered Tad.  Tad was found many times asleep on the floor of President Lincoln’s office.
What is your favorite history figure?

  • New Year’s Resolutions

We all have something that we want to remove out of our lives.  The greek word – apotithimi is a compound of the words apo and tithimi.  Apo means away and tithimi means to lay down.  When these words are used together it is a picture of someone laying something down.  “You must make the choice to remove those filthy, stinking garments from you life, to permanently lay them down and then deliberately push them out of your range forever…”

What “thing” would you like out of your life?

If 7-11 is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, why are there locks on the doors?

Sorry about the farmer joke – didn’t mean to be corny.

Once I was watching a friend as he was watching himself twiddle his thumbs.  I asked him, “What are you doing?”  He told me ”I’m entertaining himself”.   What do you do to entertain yourself?

50% of women in America don’t have one of these.  What is it?

  • From a middle aged woman:  “Oh, I wish my husband were living.  I need his support so much.  You see my son was arrested this past week.  I knew a few years ago the road my son was on was probably going to lead him to this but now that it’s here I can’t stop grieving.  As a mother I tried to get him to change his direction but then deep within me I knew he never would.  I knew deep down he couldn’t.  I remember as a boy how determined he was to follow in his Father’s footsteps.  I didn’t quit understand it all as he was growing up but I stored it within my heart.  I wanted to protect him but I had to let him go and that’s what hurts so bad.  Friday was the worst day.  It was torture.  My heart broke as I lost my son.  But then I’m hearing rumors today that I may not have lost my son.  Could it be true?”   by Mary the Mother of Jesus.

  • Today's CartoonWe’re in the season of the terrible twos.   Since we got a new puppy Kalli growls at us when we tell her no.  It’s hard to not laugh and when we do, any hope for discipline is gone.
