Winter Wonderland. It rained here 1st so the snow stuck to the trees – Beautiful.
My Daughter’s car.
Alisha DawnThis looks like fun:
What do you do for recreation?
More Weirdness: President Franklin PierceOn February 2, 1836, Franklin Pierce, Jr. was born. Two days later the child died and Franklin went back to alcohol. Jane, his wife, speculated endlessly on and why God allowed their son to die. She concluded that God took their son because of her husband’s political ambitions.
In 1839 Jane became pregnant again. Then another child was born in 1841 – Benjamin. She urged her husband to retire from politics. Four years later their 4 year old child died of typhus. Jane became more religious, fearful that an angry God would take their remaining child.
Franklin retired only for a short time. In 1852 Franklin Pierce entered the Presidential race. During the election process, Jane prayed fervently that her husband would loose the race. Her prayers were to no avail, Franklin won an electoral landslide.
In a celebration of the election the President-elect escorted his wife Jane and son Benjamin on a train trip home to Concord, New Hampshire. Just north of Boston the train car experienced a “sudden snap and jar”. The 11 year old Benjamin was killed. An object had hit him in the back of his head.Jane went into seclusion. She concluded that her son was sacrificed by God, because of her husband. In 1862 she died unnoticed in the public eye. Franklin returned to the bottle and would die in 1869.
More than a hundred years later, Barbara Bush, fourth cousin to Franklin would enter the White House and become a popular 1st lady.
Does God bring bad things into peoples live because He is mad at them as Jane Pierce believed?

Makes me want to go to Kansas and throw snowballs…LOL
god brings bad things in people’s lives because he loves them, is mad at them, is sad, or it was because of someone else’s actions.. i think
long time no talk randy. saw you on dans site…this is a different site than you would remember me by.
Is this any more familiar? Although I would prefer to comminicate through the above account.
Derek
ah! cliche church phrases. haha. adam and steve. been a while since that one came up. I have to disagree, obviously. He couldn’t, if indeed there is a God, create two males because there is no reproductive system in men.
On a whole different level, we shouldn’t mix religion (or…any following of God if Christianity isn’t a religion) and goverment. It is too mixed now. Look at where we came from, prime example of what happens. And then there are the Salem witch trials and so on. Goverment and religion cannot mix.
Derek
I do believe so, but we were in agreement at the time lol. The site was most likely blue and I probably had a picture of either me or salvador dali.
You too, enjoy the dinner.
I don’t think so. I do think that bad things happen because maybe you made a series of wrong choices.
RYC: Woody Allen is kind of weird . . .
I think it was just a bad case of circumstances on Jane Pierce’s part.
If God truly brough bad circumstances because He is mad, does that mean he was mad at Job? Not hardly. Bad things happen to good people, sometimes by being in the wrong place at the wrong time, sometimes by a series of stupid decisions we make. I do know that in times of “trial,” when things go wrong, I do tend to more earnestly seek after God. That’s not a good habit to be in, but sometimes life get’s too comfortable on our part.
Interesting post….I like History….btw, the weather is clear, cool in the 50s but no wind…alot better
The answer could go either way. I believe God will do what it takes to bring His people in to fellowship with Him. At the same time, I believe He gets blamed for a lot of things that we cause to happen. And I also believe we try to bargain with God, which is pointless. I don’t know the answer in the Pierce case. I don’t have the inside scoop.
Oh and lets not forget Satin’s roll. He loves to decieve and bring us down with doubt, discouragement, and deceit. He is not out for good.
Hope you have a good week.
that a funny thought.
ah Mexican. I grew up not too far from the Mexico border. Love Mexican food because of it.
Derek
i don’t think he puts bad things in peoples lives because He is mad at all. i think it’s because He knows that we can handle it or that it will help us grow. when i was seven, i became a diabetic, and my mom got breast cancer when i was in seventh grade. i don’t think it was an accident; i think God gave both of us those diseases for a reason, and it wasnt because He was mad. it was because He knew that we could use them in order to help others.
Winter Camp is a gathering of different youth groups from all over the area in a cool camp up in the mountains. There, we have devotion services every morning and evening, get closer with our youth groups, meet new people, and (if it snows) play in the snow! Plus we have some really cool speakers and worhsip bands that come every year. We have altar calls every night, and the presence of God is felt. It’s a great experience!
=[ God makes bad things happen to show His will...
=] yes, i had a great sunday! hope you do too!!!
<3 ang
Yes, I think so. We don’t have a good relationship right now. I’m not holding up my end.
I came here to comment on your comment and commented on your question instead… RYC: Not just xanga, but everyone. I’m feeling very antisocial.
Throwing Snowballs Is Against The Law In Kansas?
Wow. Too many laws!
larry
No. I don’t. I think Jane was a bit unhinged it sounds like. Hope your weekend was a good one. ang
Lindaintennessee said pretty much what I was going to say… sometimes I think God gets the rap for what we (or someone else) needs to take responsibility for… And if jane were a true Christian, she would know that her children, innocent as they were, were with God and that is not a punishment…
No, He does not.
Period.
God does not cause any of this we do. Judi
A resounding NO.
Hey Randy,
Are you serious? No snow balls!!! great ball of fire!
No, where I live we didn’t get much snow. oh well.
Oh, that picture for the recreation thing, (where they are sliding down that slide thing) I’ve been on one of those! And, yes, it is way mundo fun!
No, God doesn’t bring bad things. If God wants you to learn a lesson, then it’ll all work out in the end. You just have to pray for understanding. And sometimes, it’s man’s free will that messes things up, but somewhere in the Bible it says that God will make everything better in the end. For example, you could use what happend to you to guide and councle someone else who is going through the same thing.
*smile*
Have a great day!
-Miquelie.
yea, you’re right! Horses & ponies love sweetie things~ (such as Suger cubes, polo mints, apples, cereal with treacles…)
Thx for sharing some interesting thingy in the world….
Cheers
Kaka loves Super Bomb(L50)
PS
What does “boost” mean? As in referring to pictures?
im sure it will be banned in a lot of countries very soon as it is bound to cause so many injuries ..however, how would they police it? impossible…as most of my fights are at night in the dark ….
Alas, relaxing Sundays are few and far between when you work for the church…
God is good ALL the time. Jane Pierce’s viewpoint on God was apparently skewered by superstition, which has absolutely no place in Faith.
Has anyone ever gotten out of this life unscathed by Life’s Thorns? Those of us who attempt to reach the “Rose” do so by taking the risk. Dare I think that the “risk” is worth the while! Some get daunted at this task and may even think that God is “punishing” them. They may even feel it is enough “reason” to stop the pursuit. While others, despite the wounds the thorns inflict, keep on their journey to the “Rose.” The most exquisite role model, in the Person of Jesus Christ, first, last and always, comes to mind as the example. No one person deserved more consideration than the Son of Man/Son of God….and He was IMPAILED by Life’s Thorns. So, the immutable fact in Truth is that on the scales of balance, bad stuff happens to anyone who lives and breathes. That’s just the way it is. What defines us in those difficult times….is Faith…that if He brought me to it, then He will bring me out from it.
That’s funny about those who had good transportation but didn’t head out….uh-oh!
Wow… How much did it snow there?
that’s an interesting law. our local newspaper did an article a few weeks ago about outdated laws here in tulsa, and they actually listed some that i wish they would start enforcing! i can’t remember all of them, but one of them made it illegal to curse in public, and one of them made it punishable to commit adultery.
that picture thingy on the right of your weblog page you know the home page thingy is that your wife with the brown hair? cos shes really pretty
If God wanted to be nasty to somebody for their political ambitions, there’s a whole bunch of folks who were worst than Franklin Pierce.
:]
throwing snowballs is prohibited….O.O That’s RiDiCuLous… o.o
Ryc: I know.. XD but I’ll live. =)
I am full time. I direct the youth/young adult ministries– working with everyone from 9 years old to 29 years old. It’s a great job, but it’s busy.
Love the joke with the snow – lol! GOOD STUFF!
I believe bad things can happen to good people – and I believe God has a plan and purpose for EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE!
I don’t think God brings bad things into people’s lives but maybe ALLOWS bad things to happen in order to teach a lesson. I could be wrong though. I am a LOT!
Did you see the message I left for you with regard to your friend’s having a baby girl?
NO! i believe he may ALLOW bad things to happen, but he doesnt MAKE them happen…. we have Satan and our own actions for that….
and snow looks prettier in someone elses back yard!!!
You got S N O W!!!! The landscape looks so beautiful. I guess SD is actually heading for Spring…as snow ALWAYS precludes the onslaught of warmer weather. Anyway, that had always been my experience. Alisha Dawn is a very pretty girl and from what I can see from “pictures only”…she bears a striking resemblence to you. Be safe traveling in the snow and God bless y’all!
We cause our own suffering God gives us the tools to never suffer again. Judi
What do i do for fun….I read your posts….LOL
So much snow! It’s getting warmer over here now.
RYC: yes, I had a lovely Church service! And we had wonderful fellowship afterwards to celebrate our 2nd Year Anniversary! yay!
Wow.. the weather is crazy all over the place. :- Here its been nice an sunny lately, in the 70′s But then there is a sudden Thunderstorm, out of the blue.
I don’t think God bring bad things into peoples lives, I think he allows certain things to happen… maybe to teach someone something, or remind us of His mercy and faithfulness.
Have a blessed Monday!
I was thinking about that a few days ago. I think it’s meant to be a period of spiritual growth, that through the sadness we’re less focused on trivial matters and spend our time searching for meaning. We can reach a more deepened faith because we’re that much more vulnerable.
Hi Randy,
Thanks for visiting AeroGo. It looks like you’re in the thick of winter up in South Dakota. Ours didn’t really arrive here in Houston until early Feb., and apparently left soon after Valentine’s day. Our “winter” is really July and August, when hardly anyone wants to go outside, it’s so hot and humid.
That’s pretty strange about Franklin Pierce. He’s one of those presidents you hardly ever hear about. I once read that some conservative Christian author considered Grover Cleveland to have been one of our best presidents, and I have no idea what to think of that, don’t know anything about him except that he had two separate terms.
Anyway, regarding your question, I used to work at NASA (JSC) years ago, both for the govt. while in school and a contractor afterwards.
Enjoy your winter wonderland – Gordon
Not too much this time. Around 2 or 3 inches. I was hoping for a snowday, because last time it snowed even less and they let us out of classes for 2 days!
I don’t believe God does bad things to us out of anger, but after the February that we’ve had around here I’m starting to wonder if I haven’t done something to upset the apple cart! Bad kharma? hahaha …. Glad you enjoyed your spaghetti and meatballs, I’m getting the homemade sauce ready for ours on Wednesday!
Yeah, there’s a lot of folks like that. I really liked it at first, NASA’s a great place for a student to intern (and a lot of folks don’t realize it, but you don’t have to be a science or eng. major, for a few slots). With NASA, I was in the Propulsion & Power Div., which was great. Once we had a week long course on the SSME taught by the Rocketdyne folks.
After school, I worked in SAIL, which is a big avionics mockup of the shuttle, testing software. I was fortunate in that I was always able to get some of the more interesting jobs, working on the SSME and in a propulsion lab, and then with the primary flight/GNC instruments and controls in SAIL.
NASA’s a great learning experience but there’s also a dark side, being funded by Congress, which has made it very hard for them to make meaningful progress on the big manned spaceflight programs. I never really expected to stay too long, and I left to start my own company a long time ago. We do a lot of basic research on system theory that’s way ahead of some of the big name research groups.
I started AeroGo a couple of years ago mainly to help students who are interested in the aerospace field but don’t know how to pursue it. There’s a lot more I want to do with it, but so far I’m mainly using it to provide some of the background and perspective they need to understand the opportunities and pitfalls. I’m also hoping to pull in a few mainline journalists who could so benefit from a little more background to the aerospace subjects they cover.
Oh man… that alpine slide looks so cool!
hello there,
I think God allows things to happen in our lives because of the choices we make, but I think that when we aren’t in accordance to God’s will, we bring these things upon ourselves. Does that make sense?
I think he did
I recall the disciples asking Jesus if a man’s sin or his parents sin caused him to be born blind. Jesus reply was that it was so that God could be glorified. I don’t think that God brings upon us bad things. He allows them and can certainly use them for our good but He doesn’t cause them. Thanks for dropping by. I was just thinking this morning that I should drop in and say hello. You beat me to it!
Tim
ryc: i suppose if the snow stayed in my own backyard i wouldnt mind it much either…. but it DOESNT! it makes me go … GRRRRRRRR.
Wow that snow is beautiful. I go to the beach and I blog for fun.
I don’t think God sends bad things but he allows Satan to test us. He always uses the bad things for good. Sometimes he disciplines us which is not fun either.
Enjoy that snow……….LOL….we got it too…………..yuk
I love looking at pictures of snow. I hate snow. Lived in the stuff going up. I don’t care if I ever see it again.
I’m going to say no, otherwise he would have already fixed our current presidential situation like he was said to have done then.
Ugh! We have a bunch of snow too…quite frankly I’m ready for summer! Green leaves, warm summer sun, that gentle breeze blowing the wind chimes, kids playing outside….ahhhhh….
No he just fixes whatever is making him mad and sometimes bad things happen to some people in the process.
I think Jane was Insane, seems like quite a few presidents wives were.
I’m not sure what to say about the question but about the snow, mines is melting pretty fast D:
You can keep all the snow…………..please………..LOL………suppose to be in the 40′s by the weekend…………yeah……..LOL
I thought this was yesterdays post??? Oh well, yeah we had some snow too. Got a two hour delay.
Derek
thanks for sharing your snow not because he is mad lol it is up to us to overcome whatever obstacle or ordeal appears in our lives this lady’s energy was almost manifesting the events because of her fears (& seeming distain of her husbands career choice or his drinking) maybe they went hand in hand who knows interesting thanks beck
Thanks for coming by. Judi
I LOVED that cartoon. Sent it to my snow-crazed hubby. Thanks for stopping by!
