  • War

The planes got closer.  The air was tense.  Bodies went flying in the air.  Bombs went off all around me.  I fell to the ground with my hands over my head.  Several of my Navy buddies did the same.  Enemy aircraft continued their attack.  Screams were heard all around.  A central voice shouted instructions.  Water began to splash from explosions hitting it.  More bodies went into the air only fall to the ground.  The wounded became evident.  More bodies fell to the ground, motionless.  A central voice continued to shout instructions.  The roar of the planes was frightening.  Men were running all around.  It looked like chaos.  The planes dissapeared into the horizon.  Human carnage was all around.  Men and women in uniform were limping and obviously hurt.  I rose from the ground.  A central voice shouted, "Cut".    I was a Sailor in the mini series, "Winds of War".  It was a movie shot by hollywood and it was a lot of fun.  It was the Pearl Harbor attack scene. I saw Robert Mitchum take cover.

Heir Force                      I started off by asking everyone who had a Bible.  The 4 kids that had a Bible I gave them a dollar.  I then asked them what the lesson title was and told them the winner got a can of pop.  It took them about 30 minutes and a boy finally got it right.  They gave a lot of good answers but the correct one was, "Put the Bible 1st".  We played a game of shoes.  If you answered the question correctly you could keep your shoe and pick someone else to throw their shoe in the pile.  Get it wrong you lost your shoe.  Everyone lost their shoes, including me, except one girl.  It was a fun class.

Just talked to my Grandmother on the phone.  She's in a Nursing Home.  I had a good talk with her.  She was lonely - I'm glad I called.

  • What's your favorite music?         KJ-52  - One of my favorite bands.  FiveTweezy is the theme song for Heir Force.  Check out the site.  It plays music right away.

I had a great lunch with my 2 year old.  Every Friday about 10 of us guys get together for lunch at GodFathers.  I always enjoy it.  I took Kalli with me today.  She had to go see the water fountain and lead me all over the Mall before going back home.

  • Alice's outrageous moments
--She publicly called down curses upon President Wilson as his open carriage passed her.
---She was cruel to her own child and it's believed she caused her to stutter.
----On the very night of her daughter's Pauline wedding,  Alice revealed to the world that Pauline's adored father was not the actual father.
---Alice was banned from the White House.
--When FDR sought a 3rd term, Alice was quoted as saying, "I'd rather vote for Hitler."
-When Lyndon Johnson teased her, saying that he couldn't kiss her because her hat was in the way, Alice replied, "That's why I wear it Mr. President."
A colorful historical figure - Alice Roosevelt.  She was born on February 12, 1884.  Two days later her grandmother, a mere 49 years old died, a few hours later her own mother died.  A stunned Theodore Roosevelt, grief beyond endurance, gave his baby Alice to his sister and headed to the Badlands of South Dakota to mourn.  Theodore would only see his Alice sporadically during the next few years.  It was believed that the aunt carrying for Alice was "crippled and couldn't pick her up".  Add this to the mix:  Theodore abandoned Alice even after she came back into their house two years later.  Also compounded in the batter is this:  Alice's step mother, Edith was harsh and mean with her.  Even at Alice's wedding Edith tried to hurt her by saying, "I want you to know that I am glad to see you leave."
Alice wouldn't bond with anyone.  I personally believe that Alice had RAD, reactive attachment disorder.  She wouldn't let anyone touch her, physically or emotionally.  Why?  Because her own father did not get over the death of his own wife.  Theordore Roosevelt, although was a great man, was a terrible Father.

The response to memorials was overwhelming.  Thanks to all who shared a memory.

Do you have people in your life that are "difficult"?  What are they like?  How do you respond to them?

  • Tad

I traveled with friends to Ellendale, North Dakota. - Trinity Bible School.   We had a planning meeting for kid's camp for this summer.   It was a great meeting.   I enjoyed spending a little time with my daughter also - she's going to college there.

Who said this?   "We must not create an atmosphere of sadness in the White House because this would not be good for anyone - not for the country."     obvious hint:  It was a President.

Tad Lincoln, son of Abraham Lincoln.  Tad was slightly mentally disabled or in today's terms cognisant delayed.  What made him so great, in my eyes, was the greatness of his Dad.  Tad could talk to his Dad at any time and Tad did.  One particular time was during a war meeting.  Tad wanted the advice of his father, President Lincoln.  Tad marched into where his Dad was having a Civil War meeting with his Generals.  President Lincoln stopped and asked Tad what he needed.  Tad said, "Dad, I have a problem."  "A soldier deserted:; should he be executed?"  Abraham looked at his son and said, "Son, pardons are good."  With his problem solved, Tad went back to playing.  That's the kind of Dad President Lincoln was.

I was greatly affected by a fellow xangan when I read her comments.  (This is the anniversary of her Father's death.)  I couldn't help but think of Mary Lincoln.  Her precious "Tad" died on July 15 1881.  One year later, on  his death's anniversary, she collapsed in her bedroom and fell into a coma, and passed away the next morning.  Anniversary's are very difficult.  I'll never forget the words of Abraham Lincoln to his son Robert. "Son, don't let Mom cry too much."  From what I've read, Mary didn't know how to grieve.  She bottled everything inside.  Talk about the pain. Talk about the person.  I know it hurts but talk.
Who in your life has died and how has it affected you?

Happy Valentines Day ---     On Feburuary 14, 269 a guy by the name of Valentine left a farewell note for the jailer's daughter.  (She had become his friend.)  He signed it "From Your Valentine", just before his exucution - for not giving up Christianity.

Do you enjoy yourself?  Have you paid attention to yourself lately?  If your output exceeds your impurt, your upkeep will be your downfall.  Forget to put gas in your car, you know what happens.  We're instucted to take heed unto ourselves.  Those words mean to take a firm grip.  Thus, get a grip. Become single minded and forget the little stuff that brings you down.

  • Do you know your intake?

    Many Netherlands foods contain horse

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (UPI) -- Netherlands animal rights group Wakker Dier says many hamburgers, frikandels and krokets in the country contain horsemeat.

The Wageningen University study of 286 food items found 32 percent contained meat from horses, Expatica reported.

The rights group said the study was commissioned to address public concerns about the use of horsemeat, as most people in the country consider the animals to be pets rather than a viable food source.

Thoughts:  I've been thinking about the word "do".  It comes from the greek word for poetic.  I want to stay creative.  In order to do that I must monitor my intake.  I'm careful as to what goes in my mind because I want to view life and people in the purest way.  I evaluate myself.  I do this by checking my heart to see how I look at other people.  If they irritate me then my heart is most likely at fault.  If I'm at peace with people then my heart is OK.
Do you evaluate yourself?  If so then how?

  • Tatoos & Microchips

Implanted Microchip:  Here is a bill that is being introduced to the Oklahoma house: An Act relating to public health and safety;  prohibiting the forced implantation of a microchip; authorizing the State Department of Health to impose a fine in certain circumstance; providing for codification; and providing an effective date.
If the government says you have to have an implanted microchip, would you?

Tattoos are on the rise.  A lot of young people are getting them.  What do you think about Tattoos?

  • Ask me any question and I'll try to answer it.  -It'll be fun.

My dog is barking at himself.  He's looking into a mirror and thinks he's a bigger dog.
    What a dummy.

"Be doers of the Word."  The word doers is taken from the same Greek word as poet.  This word carries with it the idea of creativity, such as a poet whose personality includes a creative flair.  I personnally hate religion but I love relationship.  The Word is alive. The Word is the person - Jesus.

We had what we call, "Pastor's Invite".  It's for all the new people.  Tonight we had 21.  We've had a lot of new people and I love that.  We have plans to build on and add a multipurpose room for the kids and youth.

  •
The most exciting time of my Navy Career was when I landed on the carrier - USS Kitty Hawk.  It wasn't this particular jet or this carrier.  It was a C-4.  The plane comes in full blast in case it misses its cable and then stops immediately.  I couldn't move a muscle.  What a sensation.

What's an exciting experience in your life.

Early Daylight Savings Time Causes Concerns
Daylight saving time is early this year.  It will be on March 11th but Eurpoe will maintain the old daylight savings schedule.  The automatic time changes on computer will have to be readjusted.   I personnally would wish they did away with daylight savings time.
Do you like daylight savings time or would you rather it go away?
DLST reminded me of my Navy days.  When we went West on a ship we lost an hour and they put it during our sleeping time but when we traveled east the extra hour was put in during our work time. - no fair.  & yes your birthday could be taken away from you.  International date line crossing lost or gained a day - now that was weird.  Someone in Washington thought they were being funny by scheduling us to cross the international date line on Friday the 13th.  - We had 2.
