  • Valentines

We had a good day.  My wife and I went to our favorite restaurant to celebrate Valentines Day.  Chinese in Sioux City, Iowa.  It was great getting away.  We did take Kalli, our 2 year old.  Kalli pointed out the window and said, McDonalds or Pizza for Pizza Hut and of course, Wal Mart.   After lunch we went to Sam's Club and when Kim was getting things, Kalli led me through the store.  - all over the store.  Yes, it was a good day.

    What are your Valentines plans?

  • I read an article about the possible marriage of internet and cable TV.  My mind started flying in different dimensions. What about this?   You're watching 24 and at the same time able to interact with all sorts of people - on the same screen.  or.....  be watching Deal or No Deal on one side of the screen and actually playing the same game on the other side to see if you can beat the actually contestant.  The possibilities are endless, but one dimensional TV is on the way out.  Beam me up Scotty I'm ready to head back to earth.
What invention would you make if you had unlimited financial revenue?

kittyhawk The answer to my riddle is this:  I was in the Navy.  When we crossed the equator we went through an initiation.  -from polliwog to shellback.  I was led around on a dog collar almost all day.  They saved garbage for weeks before and we had to roll in it.  A lot of gross things.  I and hundreds of other sailers were initiated.   I crossed the equator on the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk.

  • Here's something from my past.  Take a guess as to what it is.
I was a pollywog until I crossed the line, then I became a shellback.  - What did I do?

I was listening to a reporter interviewing several people.  The reporter made up a fake country and said that President Bush felt we needed to invade that country.  Person after person said they sided with the President.  My question:  Do you follow a leader no matter what their stand is?

Good Positive News out of NASA
    Astronauts set spacewalk records
HOUSTON (UPI) -- Spacewalk records are being set this week at the International Space Station.
Following Sunday's second spacewalk of the current series, Cmdr. Mike Lopez-Alegria, with eight spacewalks totaling 54 hours and 42 minutes, now ranks third on the all-time list behind Jerry Ross and Anatoly Solovyev.
He is expected to equal Ross' mark of nine spacewalks Thursday and move into second place for the most spacewalk time by an American astronaut at the 3 hour and 50 minute mark. He is expected to surpass Ross' record for most spacewalks by an American Feb. 22 during the Russian outing.
Flight Engineer Suni Williams now holds the record for most spacewalk time by a female at 22 hours and 37 minutes. NASA mission controllers in Houston expect her to eclipse the mark she shares with Kathy Thornton for most spacewalks by a female -- three -- Thursday.

  • Shopping Cart Race

Shopping cart race draws viewers, police

NEW YORK (UPI) -- When the annual "Idiotarod" shopping cart race took place this weekend in New York, the event drew police as well as spectators.
The New York Times said after police unsuccessfully attempted to cancel Saturday's Carts of Brooklyn Racing Association-sponsored event, entertained onlookers watched a team named Colonel Angus take home first prize.
Despite a formidable force including a helicopter, unmarked cars and even officers on horseback, the police department ultimately was forced to allow the annual race to take place.
But police remained to make sure the race's contestants, who are urged to cheat during the event, behaved themselves, the Times said.
Many in the New York community of Williamsburg were shocked as racers arrived dressed as the Village People, comedian Bill Cosby and librarians, the report said.
"I came to visit my brother," said Gilbert Ortega, who accidentally happened upon the quirky race. "I didn't know what was happening. I thought it was Halloween or something."

That story reminds me of the stupid things I did as a teen. - Put For Sale Signs in front of the High School on the 1st day of school.    What dumb thing did you do as a teen?

The word "forsaking" is taken from the Greek word egkatakeipntes.    eg means out;  kata means down; leipo means behind.  Many times when we're down or depressed we seem to leave what is most important to us.  We may withdraw from our friends & loved ones.

What do you do when your down?

  • Places I've Been

How many different places have you lived at?  What was your favorate place?

We've lived in Nebraska, South Dakota, Washington, California, Mississippi and South Carolina.  In all those places I still have to say the Mid West is the best.  No waiting at traffic lights.  The doors don't have to be locked.  The kids can play outside and I don't have to worry.  People wave at you when your driving down the road.

    Giant baby born in Mexico

CANCUN, Mexico (UPI) -- A Mexican newborn baby weighing 14 1/2 pounds is wearing diapers designed for 6-month-olds, the BBC reported.

Antonio Vasconcelos is an enormous 22 inches long, said officials at a hospital in the seaside Mexican city of Cancun where he was born Jan. 31. "Super Tonio," as he has been dubbed, is about twice the size of an average newborn child.

He is relatively healthy despite his weight, said doctors, but his blood sugar is higher than average for a newborn.

In the 19th century, a Swedish industrialists named Alfred Nobel created the powerful new explosive we know today as dynamite.  Nobel’s’ invention revolutionized the world.  Without dynamite, we would not be able to blast away rock for roadbeds, tunnels, and construction sties.  Dynamite and smokeless gunpowder also had a dramatic impact upon warfare.

When Nobel named his new creation, he borrowed a word form the Greek language, “dunamis,” which connotates the idea of violent and awesome power.   Acts - You shall recieve power/ dunamis.

  • A True Love Story

    Today's Cartoon

What is your favorite room in your house?  Why?
A True Love Story by Randy Tramp
He saw her from a distance with eyes full of tears.  His heart, heavy with love watching the one he loved.  He never took his eye off her, awaiting any sign of desire she would have for him.  Across the rolling hills he would lift his voice, "Get up my darling; let's go away, my beautiful one."

He watched the seasons come and go.  As spring appeared in the valley, life appeared in her heart in the flower of desire.  Yes, he would be allowed to show his love in the closeness of his heart.  He rode upon his magnificent whiteness.  His face shone with a completeness as he knew their hearts would be one.

He rode across the rolling hills.  As he approached the one he loved he saw the dirt.  The soil caused his heart to want to lift her from the unity she had with the earth.  Yet with such tenderness he waited as not to disturb her love.  It would have to grow.

His voice was so luring to her. Yet, the voices of so many other lovers created confusion in her.  But he was so different, his eyes, his hair, his beauty all captivated her as he sat upon his white horse.  The look in her eyes was what he desired and he captured his own image in the mirrors of her heart.

She was hiding among the obstacles of life.  "let me see your face," he said with passion.  "Speak to me," with longing in his voice, he exclaimed.

With each passing day she began to renounce each past love, yet her heart only desired his strength.  He knew that wasn't enough for their hearts to travel together upon the rivers of life.  So he continued to send her love letters.

With her eyes upon him, he caused her desire to grow.  He would draw extremely close to her, ripening her feelings of love.  Then like a mystery rider would ride away.  Oh, he never left her but was drawing her to a secret place.

He built the secret place with his love, his being.  Would she enter in with him?  Would she lay down all her old lovers, desires and her life for him?

His Father's voice lifted him from he deep thoughts he had from the beginning of time for his bride.  His Father looked at Him and said, "You know what this dream will cost you Son?"  "Yes, Father I do."  Then Jesus opened His arms and allowed the nails to be crushed into His flesh.

If this love story doesn't warm your heart then read Song of Solomon again for the 1st time.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave his only Son.
The above story is coming to your heart or a heart near you. (hopefully)  To be released in true life video in the spring of your life.  For you are the potential Bride of Christ.
    A- Admit your a Sinner
B- Believe Jesus died for your sins
C- Confess Jesus is your Savior

  • Today's Cartoon

I'd like your opinions on this:  Single parents: insight into their lives.  A lot of single Moms feel inferior.  My take on this is this:  Kids are made for a two parent family.  The typical Mom's role is that of a nurturer.  The typical Dad role is of a disciplinarian. -(Sometimes those roles are switched.)  Well when a Mom has to play both roles it throws her off and she tends to go more towards a disciplinarian.  That in itself takes her out of her role and makes her feel like she's not a good parent.

We went to a surprise birthday party for a friend of mine last night.  (He didn't look very surprised.)  It was fun.

I've been thinking about the accident here in Yankton.  If you read the story and since no one got seriously hurt I'm going to give my chuckles about it.  Basically a guy went into the gas station to pay for the gas and his wife slid over to drive the car up and hit the gas instead of the brake and went through the station.  Here's my advice:  Don't have an arguement before paying for gas.  Be alert when a husband pays for gas and the wife is in the car. Be specific when you ask your wife to pick you up after getting gas.  (I've been laughing about this all morning.)  If I knew them - they would never hear the end of it.

  • Home

Bad Accident - We just found out that a car ran into our HyVee Gas Station.  The car went completely into the station.  An employee was hit.  My daughter said she saw a person being carried out in a black bag.

It's good being back home.  I suprised my family by getting back for our anual business meeting.  No one was expecting me there.  Branson was a lot of fun and I came away with many ideas that I'm going to put in action.  I guess one of the highlights was this communication:  There were 3 of us that stuck together.  We have another friend that is doing Children's Work in Africa.  Well, during the conference,we were in contact with Rich via emails.  (He's trying to get us to come to Africa for a visit. - We may just do that.)

My vision for where I'm going this next year has become clearer.  I've reajusted and set some new goals.  I feel I'm going to accomplish it this next year.
How important is having a future vision to you?

    Today's Cartoon
All seriousness set aside:  Is it just me or is a teenager here trying to get into a phone that was used in the 70's?  LOL

I had to laugh.  My teenage daughter's friend has to carry around a "real life" baby.  She stopped over and the mechanical baby started to cry.  A few years ago we got a chuckle out of a teen that put her "assignment baby" in the nursery.   I guess that's what happens in real life.

  • Last Day in Branson

Yesterday day was another fun day in Branson.  We had teaching sessions in the morning - actually it was round table discussions.  In the afternoon we had free time so we went to the I-Max Theater.  We watched Fighter Pilots and a film on Katrina on the huge screen.  - Very impressive.  We're headed back today & it'll take us about 9 hours on the road.  It was a great week.
