  • Robert Gilbert, in his book The Mortal Presidency studies the impact of the chief executive’s job on the man who must perform it, concluding the stress of the Presidency is a killer.

Regardless of if you agree with President Bush or not, my question is do you pray for him?

My list of things I’m doing today:
Travel to Sioux Falls with my wife – about an hour away.
Go to see my CASA children.
Talk to someone at Menards on ideas about our bathroom walls.
Talk to someone at Best Buy on ideas on how to get a 2 hours service on DVD and mass record.
    Have lunch with my wife.
Go so Sam’s Club and follow my 2 year old around the store while my wife gets grociers. (My favorite thing.)
Get home before the kids get out of school.
Wish my now 24 year old daughter-Kristina a “Happy Birthday”.
Put out junk for the city wide cleanup.

    What’s your plans for today?

Dozens line up for free Alaska land

ANDERSON, Alaska (UPI) — Dozens of people waited in line in Anderson, Alaska, to take advantage of a free land offer designed to raise the town’s population.
About 44 people waited in line Monday for a chance to claim one of 26 large lots offered by the town, the Juneau (Alaska) Empire reported Tuesday.
In order to qualify for the land, applicants must agree to build a house of at least 1,000 square feet on their plot within two years of obtaining it, KTUU-TV, Anchorage, Alaska, reported.
The plan was designed by local high school students as a way to boost the town’s population, which currently holds at about 300 people.

    Down Memory Lane:

Several years ago my Pastor did an illustration with a lamb at Easter. My son Austin, about 5 years old at the time had his eyes glued upon the illustrated sermon.  (All the children were sitting on the floor in front of the church) Pastor explained that in a Jewish home a lamb would live in the house a week before being killed.  As Pastor lifted the knife towards the lamb, some of the children cried, “No, No – don’t hurt the lamb.”  But, my son Austin said, “Yes, Yes”  The congregation laughted; the effect lost.    I thought about this because we’re getting a live lamb this Easter and doing the same illustration.  We’ll take the lamb in the Kid’s Church afterwards.  The kids love it.

  • After having the day off yesterday, I get to go back to work today. Then, come home and do the laundry I put off yesterday so I could go Easter shopping fo my grandkids…Yep! I’m looking forward to this fun day!…not!

  • I always pray for my president.  Especially this one.

  • I do have plans. Good post. We are to pray for our leaders.

  • Make it to noon, and then go home and get some chores done.  Hopefully the evening will be relaxing, with reading, watching some TV, and of course, some xangaing!

  • do we actually know each other?

  • RYC:  it IS a great list put together from those in the know about brain development in young children.

Have a GREAT weekend! And, YES…I pray for our president~ My Gracie girl loves to go to Sam’s.  I think it has to do with the free snacks/food they give out. :o )

  • Answer: I don’t pray for President Bush NEARLY as much as I should, but it’s still PROGRESS I guess. I never prayed for Clinton, at all…..I prayed AGAINST him. I’ve recently become CONVICTED about that, but it’s too late…..he’s no longer President.

  • A little bash here and there on the president but this to much, give him the respect that he run our country for God sake! Other country already bash him enough doesn’t mean we the same side has to kill him even more. I pray for him spiritually.

    have a great day.

  • Wish I’d been there for the free land offer – especially since I LOVE Alaska and it’s one of my choice places to live.  HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

  • my plan is to get thru the day and the weekend. its not going to be easy. ive been admitted to hospital due to depression

  • I always pray for the president, no matter who it is… the decisions they make affect the whole nation… so I pray that God guides him in the right ways…
The free land was cool, wish I would have known about it!! And funny about the lamb, does Austin like lamb chops?

  • I will work today. Tonight I will assist Mom with shower, vacuum, start laundry – maybe after that I can relax!

  • As I wrote once before…I most certainly think that history will regard G.W. Bush as being a “great” president….as history records the likes of JFK and other ensuing presidents, as being morally defunct.  I do pray for G.W. Bush, as I have prayed for “every” president I have ever experienced.  I think he is a spiritually moral man, despite the calamitous  conditions of the world he is pefunctorily blamed for.  Those who blame him are “arrogant” and have absolutely no idea that although he is the President,  he….like all of us….is NOT in control.   “Thy Will be done upon earth, as it is in Heaven.”

My plans:  try and stay off of this time-consuming computer!!!

  • Are you having lamb chops for the Easter luncheon?  Makes me think of Lamb Chop, remember?

  • In the list of things you have to do today , you forgot “prayer for my President ” .

And I wish a happy birthday to your older .

And I hope you will kill properly the lamb !

    In friendship

  • I saw my mom reading that book, “The Mortal Presidency.” Oh, sorry, but I don’t pray for your president, but I’m praying for Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, our president. She needs one. Have a good weekend.

  • I pray for our leaders, yes…

    Happy birthday to your daughter.

    Have a great weekend. Ang

  • I wish I was in Alaska so I can own a piece of land. lol. Here in the Philippines, puberty abound, so many are homeless. hope they too live in Alaska.

My spouse and I have a wonderful mechanic who I’d trust to the 9th degree. He’s great…but, I, too, have been ripped off by a mechanic or two..

  • Well there were really precious!!! Oh wow my daughter whose name is also Deanna is 22 today!!

    Happy Birthday!!!!

  • Oh and I haven’t been too far from Texas and Oklahoma…….once to Kansas but havent been too far from that….And to think that one day I pray that I get to go to Africa to minister. Hmmm?

  • hope your day was good and your weekend is wonderful !!!

  • I definitely remember the President and First Lady in my prayers.  It saddens me to see how aged Bush has gotten since taking office, and how much he has gone through.  He hasn’t always made the best decisions, but I do think he has made them in the best interest of his country and in a Christian way.  I hope you have a great weekend.  Love the story about Austin and the lamb!

  • I pray daily for our President.  I have never seen such unreasoned hatred and venom directed toward anyone, especially someone who feels very strongly and deeply that his job as Commander and Chief is to protect us.  We are living in dangerous times and we do need to pray…diligently.

  • I read about that bottom item yesterday while I was reading news at school. I just stopped. read it three or four times. I don’t even want to think about the consequences of this in the near future is the Iranian’s don’t return the sailors soon, like last time (only it was four British sailors, not fifteen).
