I’m battle weary today. With my job I deal in lives of people. This past week I’ve listened to cases of abuse upon small children and abuse with a husband towards his wife. And I watched a little too much junk on TV.
“I’ve allowed my output to exceed my input; now my upkeep is my downfall.”
The words that come to mind is:
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.
He leads me through green meadows;
He leads me besides still waters.
He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to His name.
Even when I walk
through the dark valley of death,
I will not be afraid,
for you are close besides me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.
You prepare a feast for me
in the presence of my enemies.
You welcome me as a guest,
anointing my head with oil.
My cup overflows with blessing.
Surely your goodness and unfailing love
will pursue me
all the days of my life.
And I will live in the house of my Heavenly Father forever.Oubliette (Noun)
Pronunciation: [oo-bli-'yet] Listen
Definition: A cell or dungeon room with only a trapdoor at the top for entry and exit.
When I saw this word I couldn’t help but think of Patrick Henry and his speech: “Give me liberty or give me death.” Let me tell you the rest of the story. Patrick had a insane wife. At that time the insane was put in institutions. Patrick didn’t want his wife institutionalized, so he had a trap door and a secret room under his home. He cared for his wife down there. No one knew.

its true there more negative things in tv then positve. I feel like so many pple out there doesn’t have any more commen sense.
Ironically my xanga deals a little with what you’ve talked about. I hadn’t even read your xanga before I posted it. Thank you for posting that piece from Psalm 23. It was very encouraging. I never get tired of it.
Boy, that one makes me wonder… are we sure she was insane?
Count your blessings… that’s what I think of when I hear things that make me achefor others.
Hope you have great weekend mister. Ang
Sometimes pastors need some pastoring…That would be hard to deal with. One can become hardened and build a shell or one can take things to heart and be compassionate and I know you must be the latter. It’s good to know that you have a place to vent with some understanding readers.
It’s when innocents are abused…it is just so unspeakable and cowardly. I would not want to be the one standing before Jesus and knowing that I have harmed a child. He certainly had some words about that! I know that in many cases, the abuser was abused but…some people overcome early abuse to become more compassionate and caring.
A wonderful testimony God has given you for encouragement then. May we all be like that little old lady….and never have to keep our spouces locked beneith the floor! lol
Great post and FASCINATING word/ story!
When you have time, will you go to Kits_purse and read her entry from today and yesterday? I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts on her post. Thanks.
ryc: Your telling me… I can imagine any excuse could be used to lock someone up if a person wanted to… I wonder if Ben would have been temped sometimes to have me put in a oubliette… lol Ang
Some times I feel like I belong in one. lol
Hope this next week is better.
I had been told by a woman of true wisdom, “we have TWO opportunities with parents. That which we get and that which we receive.” For some, the getting, was filled with abuse…and it had to be miserable. Then “why” would ANYONE who suffered from that depreciating personal history, impose it upon their own children? There comes a time in everyone’s life, when it is properly incumbent upon us to “put down” the negative recollections, examine the “lesson” it taught us and vow to God and to ourselves, it would never happen again. Again and again I draw the same conclusion, that history repeats itself by the commission of our own Free Will. We choose to be mean and rotten when we have the “equal” opportunity to choose otherwise.
I’d witten to you on an earlier comment, that I had always been a kind and considerate child..I still am as an adult. The “adversity” I first experienced was with how my friends parent’s abusively treated themselves and their children. I’d been shocked and still am when I hear of such things. I’d never seen that in my own home. I bore witness to some horrific exhibitions. I vowed to myself, then, as I maintain that conviction today, NO man who struck me or my children ought NEVER turn his back on me. Any “person” who uses that kind of force to subdue another human being OF THEIR FREEDOM, is a COWARD from the First Waters. And dare I “know” that I would not want to go eyeball to eyeball, when the time comes, face Jesus Christ and account for such wickedness. Yours is an “extreme” job and I commend you for the time, the love and consideration you give to those in such need. I will pray for this woman and her children and will continue to pray for you. Bless you, Randy.
king is enthralled by your beauty (Psalms 45:11)
I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness (Jer 31:3)
Never will I leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5)
Hmm… I’m going to have to think about the Patrick Henry thing a bit. My first reaction was a negative one.
I do hope you have a better weekend than ever!
Jim went to my comments and noticed I did not convey correctly. I meant to write, “that which you receive and that which you GIVE. Now, that makes perfect sense.
YehwehPaladin mentioned you in one of his messages to me. Just wanted to stop by and say, “hey.” May God complete His work in you.
Hi Randy! Wow what a help you are! Thanks for giving me all the verses omitted from the newer translations! Have you studied this subject out at all? Which Bible do you think is more accurate? I understand that there are three lines of manuscripts from which our Bibles come from, the KJV from a totally different line than the newer ones. I also read that the line in which the new translations came from they actually found the manuscripts in the equilivance of a trash can! Wow! And That all manuscripts were copied over and over and over so they say the oldest version (KJV) must be the most accurate… ie.. older… less copied… but I also read that the newer versions (NIV) are from Better and more complete manuscripts so they are more accurate.
I assume the best thing to do is use both translations and let God speak truth to my heart but I actaully was in shock that verses would be just left out! would you want to miss even one word God had to say?
Thanks for you input. I appreciate it alot. Blessings~Becca
Hello, how is your day going today? I’m so sorry you are having a down day today…I’ll pray for ya. I kind of know what you’re going through because…people come to me and talk to me about their problems and it gets overwhelming sometimes. Junk on tv? haha Yeah there are alot of things on tv that can get cha` down like the news…the news lately is so depressing….haha Hope you have a better day…
hi. you posted a comment on my pulse. do you know me?
enjoy the weather its awsome love to all shelly.
RYC: well I’m glad you are having a much better day…
That definitely sounds like a rough week. I hope it gets better.
It is a good reminder to all of us that we daily need a recharge in prayer and God’s word.
what an interesting story
There’s so much abuse going on, and since we’re advancing in technology really fast now. Is it all to blame for the increase in all this misfortune?
Wow… he really loved his wife. You dig up a lot of interesting stories from famous people, that I would not have known in textbooks.
Video phone: It does take a while to get used to, but same with almost every technology that comes up. Pretty soon, we find ourselves so used to it that it becomes part of the norm. I forgot to add that the phone has a “privacy” button you can turn on anytime… so people who usually use the phone in the bathroom may still do so! It’s also a great tool to use in companies who hold conferences or meetings over the phone, and job interviews without actually being physically present. You see a lot of those in movies, but it’s not far of because we have it now, and they’re coming up with wireless too soon… I’m excited to have one!
that’s why i always think imprisonment can let prisoner to be repentant
coz they cannot escape
..output exceed my input… I know that feeling. What I need to remember is… “They who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.” Isaiah 40:31
Plz leave a comment on my xanga.
I’d likt to give some motivations for my friend for dieting!
Thank you!
“the Lord is my shepherd” really helped me today. thank you.
