April Fools Day
Here are some famous April Fool’s day pranks.April Fools
Day
Origin

When the western world employed the Julian calendar, years began on March 25. Festivals marking the start of the New Year were celebrated on the first day of April because March 25 fell during Holy Week. The adoption of the Gregorian calendar during the 1500s moved the New Year to January 1. According to the most widely believed origin postulated for April Fools’ Day, those who could be tricked into believing April 1 was still the proper day to celebrate the New Year earned the sobriquet of April fools. To this end, French peasants would unexpectedly drop in on neighbors on that day in an effort to confuse them into thinking they were receiving a New Year’s call. Out of that one jape supposedly grew the tradition of testing the patience of family and friends.
Which one do you like the best? 1, 2 or 3?
In 1992 National Public Radio’s Talk of the Nation program announced that Richard Nixon, in a surprise move, was running for President again. His new campaign slogan was, “I didn’t do anything wrong, and I won’t do it again.” Accompanying this announcement were audio clips of Nixon delivering his candidacy speech. Listeners responded viscerally to the announcement, flooding the show with calls expressing shock and outrage. Only during the second half of the show did the host John Hockenberry reveal that the announcement was a practical joke. Nixon’s voice was impersonated by comedian Rich Little.2. Instant Color TVIn 1962 there was only one tv channel in Sweden, and it broadcast in black and white. The station’s technical expert, Kjell Stensson, appeared on the news to announce that thanks to a newly developed technology, all viewers could now quickly and easily convert their existing sets to display color reception. All they had to do was pull a nylon stocking over their tv screen, and they would begin to see their favorite shows in color. Stensson then proceeded to demonstrate the process. Reportedly, hundreds of thousands of people, out of the population of seven million, were taken in. Actual color tv transmission only commenced in Sweden on April 1, 1970.The Parisien stunned French citizens in 1986 when it reported that an agreement had been signed to dismantle the Eiffle Tower. The international symbol of French culture would then be reconstructed in the new Euro Disney theme park going up east of Paris. In the space where the Tower used to stand, a 35,000 seat stadium would be built for use during the 1992 Olympic Games.
On a personal note the best April Fools joke was played on my Pastor. A couple of mine was going to have a baby the middle of last April. Well in talking with them we all decided the baby should be born on April 1st. (Actually she was born the middle of April). Well we alerted the hospital staff of the April Fools baby. I informed my Pastors wife of our trickery. The husband of the new born baby called the Pastor and told him that Allison had the baby. They went up to the hospital and was surprised that there was no room of the number that was given him, at which all the nurses started laughing. It was so funny as the Pastor related the story the next Sunday.
Do you have a April Fool’s Day Story?

I live in a very URBAN area and have my own carpet cleaning business. About ten years ago a customer called and said a WILD TURKEY flew through his wondow and bled on his carpet, needed me to come clean up the Turkey Blood before it dried. When I realized it was April 1st i was sure it was a gag and put him off. It was TRUE, though and I did the job!

Thanx for the visit to my world
I don’t have a story but I certainly didn’t know about the story behind it. Thank you for sharing.
Great post today. I like information like that. What a wonderful way to “serve”.
Years ago and after just having purchased a new car, with electric windows, my husband kept on fooling around with the windows as we drove to the bank with an $1800 pay check. It was the days when women had their hair piled high and sprayed to the hilt. I had “repeatedly” asked him to leave my window alone. He thought I was interested in how the sudden force of air through the car would disturb my hairdo and continued with this annoyance. The check, which was on the dash board, flew out the window and he did not observe that “flight.” I told him to STOP! He ignored me when I told him the check took a hike out the window, he continued to fool around. It was April 1st and he “thought” I was fooling. It must have been the look on my face, not to mention my rush out the door when we came to a red light, to search for it up the road apiece. He asked me if I was for real. Yes, after searching for it quite a long time, we recovered it…soaking wet, but still cashable.
#2 — By far in my book!
No good April fools stories on my part. Though I love a good joke now and then…
Thanks for a good chuckle!!!!
Also the stories in the comments too!
RYC: Makes sense to me! LOL!
We “filled up” all the rooms on the name board on our floor and then made assignments to the nurses coming in. Everyone had about 3 extra patients and no extra help. It made the real assignment not so bad.

Thanks. LOL.. all of these are pretty funny.
I delivered my twins on April 1st. I always think it would have been sort of funny if I didn’t know I was having twins until they were delivered on April 1st.

Good post!!! One time one of my kids got injured on April Fool’s Day….he had been pulling pranks on me ALL day…and late in the afternoon he came running in the front door and hollered that he had hurt his knee badly. I thought he was April Fooling me, again, so I hollered, “I don’t care! And do not bleed on my carpet!” and then I laughed. When I walked into the room and looked at him, I felt HORRIBLE! His knees was all ripped up and bleeding badly from having fallen on pavement! The look on his face from my reaction was priceless! After I explained why I said it, he felt better.
no, but i like the first or second.
