Vacations with the Family                                                          

I went back through old pictures and found many of the past family vacations.  These pictures were from our Gettysburg, PA vacation.  Well, I felt like we really needed to go to church on a Wednesday night in Gettysburg, so we went.  When we got in our van to go we found out it wouldn't start.  The car starter went out.  I had already purchased one and had it in the van. (I had a little indication that it was going out hundreds of miles back but couldn't find anyone to put it in.)  I then went back into the church to ask if any one knew of a mechanic and a guy invited our family to stay at his place.  It was great.  They had kids the same age as ours.  He fixed the starter the next morning and we were on our way.  I turned on the radio and found out a tornado had touched down in a town that we were passing through.  We would of been right in the path way the night before.  We were protected.   Gettysburg was so inspiring.

This is a pet peeve of mine.  I love originality and heart felt words.  I was talking to a friend of mine and he told me that he didn't like it when people say, "Hey, you're looking good"  -over and over again.  It doesn't have any meaning.  What over used statements or words do you hear a lot of?

I enjoy reading. I don't usually read the type of books other people read. I read a lot of philosophy and some poetry. I just read a book 'Leaves of Gold.' It's by different people and their different philosophies on life and death. That type of stuff interest me, getting these different people's opinions.

Funny Story:  Several years ago I was home schooling my oldest daughter.  I gave her the option of going into Public High School if she wanted to.  She decided she wanted to visit the Principle.  I planned on taking her there.  Kristina told asked my wife this: "Daddy isn't going to wear his sweat pants is he?"  Well, my wife told me that.  I put the sweat pants on, a ugly shirt and a backwards hat.  I pulled the sweat pants up a little and went into the kitchen and told Kristina that I was ready to go.  The shocked look on her face told me everything I wanted to accomplish.  I then went to the car and began honking the horn.  Kristina stayed in the kitchen with my wife with shock still on her face saying, "I'm not going and he can't make me. I'm not going!"  Well I came back in and we all had a good laugh.  A relieved Kristina and I then went to the principle, of course after I changed. 
What jokes have you played on others?   

 My teen daughter wanted a new cell phone.  She placed a bid on ebay and left, so I have fun bidding and spending her money.  Who does Ebay out there?

My wife had to go to a funeral in northern South Dakota on Tuesday.  She got stuck in a town near Watertown, SD(several hours from home) She stayed there last night and got up early this morning.  She made it all the way down Interstate 29 to our exit.  The gates were across the Interstate, not allowing any more southern travel at her exit.  About an hour after she got home they closed the entire Interstate throughout the state.  We're in a bad blizzard and she made it home just in time. 
What's the weather like where you're at?

I looked at this cartoon and wondered this:  Am I different at church than I am at home.  I try to make it a practice to live transparent.  I don't want my children to see me pretend at church, while being a totally different person at home. I'm not sure completely how I would grade, I suppose I'll have to check with my children.  I've expressed my failures in front of people while my children were listening - while at church.  I'm Assembly of God. I'm curious:  What church do you go to? & Are you the same person there as you are at home?

Here is a picture of my Grandmother's sister Norma, probally around the 1930's. (She's on the right) What's interesting is that my oldest daughter looks exactly like her.  Put a picture of Kristina (when she was younger) next to this picture and you can't tell the difference.  We always joke with Krisitna and tell her that we know what she's look like when she's older.  So Kristina's looks must come down on the Hamilton side. 

I love the K-Love radio station, especially with John and Sherry Rivers.  Who else listens to K-Love?
