  • One Particular Day

    July 2, 1776

The Continental Army faced certain defeat at the hands of the British.  But something happened that day:

Major Ben Tallmadge, a member of the Continental Army, wrote:

“At this time, a very dense fog began to rise, and it seemed to settle in a peculiar manner over both encampments. I recollect this providential occurrence perfectly well. And so very dense was the atmosphere that I could scarcely discern a man at six yards’ distance. We tarried until the sun had risen, but fog remained as dense as ever.”

What the British discovered when the fog lifted was an empty and abandoned encampment. Washington’s army had seemingly vanished, along with all their provisions, cannons and even horses. Instead of defeat, the Americans experienced a temporary setback and regrouped to fight on at a future successful day.

General George Washington recognized God’s hand on his life during the Revolutionary War

“I was but the humble agent of a favoring Heaven, whose benign influence was so often manifested in our behalf and to whom the praise of victory alone is due.”
    George Washington
There was another impressive day.  Actually nothing is written about the day I’m speaking of.  Pages of history are silent about this day.  The day was Saturday.   Why was it an impressive day?  It came between a horrible Friday and a victorious Sunday.  It was a day that Jesus’s followers kept going even when it looked so dark.

What one day sticks out in your mind above all other days?

  • My wedding day.  That day God gave me, as a wedding gift, the greatest earthly blessing I could recieve.  My wife and partner is a Godly woman who keeps me straight and decent.  I love her with all my heart.

  • Hey, what church do you go to again?

  • My g/f Tamara and I are visiting her folks in Yankton for Easter.  We’re going to their Baptist church.  Don’t know the pastor’s name nor the name of the church.  We’re

  • I will always recall what could have been a serious accident I was in around 3AM  Dec. 7, 1996. I crawled out of a burning truck through the window. The door wouldn’t open. During the minutes before help arrived and I wondered what in the world I was going to do… I know I felt the arms of my Savior wrap around and hold me. It was an awesome experience and the beginning of a healing that my soul needed. God has been so good to me.

  • hmm.. it would have to be when my grandpa was dying and i told him “i love you” before he died

  • There are just too many days to pick….which means — God had His gentle and strong hands on so many days whether they were good or bad….I now realize …He was there.
