1. Give unconditional love (Love that is not based upon what they do.) 2. Pay attention (Be there) 3. Teach limits (Consistent boundaries that do not move by feelings) 4. Offer choices (Let the child make decisions) 5. Support healthy risks 6. Let mistakes happen (It’s better for the child to fail at home, where teaching can happen) 7. Create success 8. Celebrate the positive 9. Listen well 10. Provide encouragement (Sometimes just a smile is enough)
“Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it….”
Good thoughts and hilarious cartoons!
Very good advice.
I like number 6… sometimes people expect them to just know without learning through their mistakes, and forget that they made plenty of mistakes too.
Very good advice….it’s how I’ve raised my kids…..

those advices are good! sometime I lost track of that when they become little monsters..lol
I actually need a guide for “how to cut a child’s over-confidence” No joke.

Deanna
Cute videos! =)
I whole heartedly agree w/those ways to build confidence. If only more parents would use them, we’d have a lot of kids w/higher self-esteem, which would equal less drugs, teen pregnancy, etc. It got up to 89 here today! = O I don’t mind tho; I luv warm weather! Take care & God bless.
Oww, I thought I got the correct answer, hahaha. Now I know. I should let Mom read your entry today. She’s not doing number 4 and 6. This is cool, guide for mothers who either lack or overdo building confidence for their children. hahahaha
Have a nice week!
Annika
I try to put #4 into action but my child gets frustrated when faced w/ options!
I like all these not sure I actually did them all but I am quite proud of my two now that they are 1 adult and 1 almost there…18 is not really adulthood
