  • MOTHERS SAID:

Funny fictional quotes from mothers in history…

ABRAHAM LINCOLN’S MOTHER: “Again with the stovepipe hat, Abe? Can’t
you just wear a baseball cap like the other kids?”

BARNEY’S MOTHER: “I realize strained plums are your favorite,
Barney, but you’re starting to look a little purple.”

MARY’S MOTHER: “I’m not upset that your lamb followed you to school,
Mary, but I would like to know how he got a better grade than you.”

    Mother’s Day traditions
    Breakfast in bed
    Brunch at a fancy restaurant
    Picnic in the park

A “hand”-made tablecloth from the family
    Love letters
    The gift of giving
    Picture day
    Family flashback
    Massage magic
    A fishing getaway
    A barbecue bash
    A family gathering
“Mother’s Day is celebrated on May 10th in Guatemala, and working mothers have the day off. In our family, all of the mothers join together at someone’s home. We share time together, welcome the new mothers, and play games where we exchange small gifts. Next, the oldest mom shares her words of wisdom. Then we enjoy a meal together.”
    — Carolina Arevalo de Galindo, mother of Rita Maria, 2 years, Ciudad de Guatemala, Guatemala.

Those were some Mother’s Day traditions that I found.  Do you have a special “Mother’s Day” tradition?

Twin Tornados that struck just west of Yankton.  This was taken in South Dakota, towards Nebraska.

  • Another great story:  His mother said, “do as He tells you.”  And He made water into wine and His ministry began and He saved the world.  Amen

  • My birthday always runs in with mother’s day, so we normally only celebrate my b-day that weekend!

  • you know, my parents discourage these hallmark holidays. i think my mom would be offended if i wasted money on mother’s day.

  • We have birthdays that hit around this time.  The kids call or come home.  Last year, I was given a “Tim, the Tool Man, Taylor grill. I don’t know what this year will bring, but there have been a lot of phone calls behind closed doors.

My favorite day was a “Father’s Day” that the kids suprised me with.  Their father died when they all were still at home.  I spent many years as a single mother.  One year, they decided that being I had been both mom and dad for so many years, I deserved to be honored on Father’s Day.  They bought me an ugly tie, a white blouse that was too small and a serious gift.  It was a day I will never forget.

  • No specific mother’s day tradition, but I’ll be taking my mother out to Brunch on Sunday.

  • My mom… She just needs me to spend time with her. She doesn’t care for flowers or cards. She can’t see them anyway. She says she doesn’t need clothes. She just needs time with us.

  • I will be working this mother’s day. I’ll start the day with my kids and end it with the elderly.

  • No I don’t have anything special I do for my mum. Aww…thats so sad about the tornadoes but I like tornadoes…haha

  • I don’t like seeing tornado’s especially at work… LOL

  • I love all the attention lavished on me that I can get!!

Not too fond of the tornado’s…I remember being in one many years ago and the vision of it has never left me.

  • LOL @ Barney’s mother!  As for the mothers day treats….I like the thought of love letters from my kids….and to them too!

  • Happy Thursday!!!
    to spend the day
    with mom and plant
    beautiful flowers has always been
our tradition…when you have 11 siblings
you always want to do something a little different
and I found flowers last a lot longer and she enjoys them
    for years.
