He would not put her to public shame or nor he marry her. She went away for a little while. Something about her aunt being pregnant as well. Those months she was away seemed like forever. He thought about that day and that time as he awaited for the baby to be born. Despair had filled his heart. He couldn’t even provide a place for his wife. He had to settle for a barn. What was God doing to him? Then in the stillness of the moment he heard, “In just a little while the heavens will light up.” Joseph had hope in his heart.

A small boy was looking at the red ripe tomatoes growing in the farmer’s garden. “I’ll give you my two pennies for that tomato,” said the boy pointing to a beautiful, large, ripe fruit hanging on the vine.

“No,” said the farmer, “I get a dime for a tomato like that one.”

The small boy pointed to a smaller green one, “Will you take two pennies for that one?”

“Yes,” replied the farmer, “I’ll give you that one for two cents.”

“OK,” said the lad, sealing the deal by putting the coins in the farmer’s hand, “I’ll pick it up in about a week.”

  • Joseph had to have been an exceptional man.  I am in awe of his faith.

  • Can you imagine, knowing how incredibly hard it was even for Joseph back then…to accept the whole…”situation” how hard it would be for ANY of us TODAY??

  • Hi Randy. It’sm interesting you are telling stories on your blog right now.

Yes Kevin Rudd did talk about withdrawing Australian solidiers. I am not sure when they will be coming home. Election counting is still going on. Some say John Howard may still have a chance in his seat because of postal votes.

  • hope you had a thanksgiving too!

  • Well I think only 75% of votes have been counted. He may have a chance still but most commentators say its very unlikely.

  • RYC:  I am not sure of the location in NE. I want to say central, but am not sure if it is near the SD border.

  • LOL @ ‘mater story.  Yes, Joeseph was indeed a remarkable person when we realize the options he had at the time

  • I never thought about Joseph having to struggle like that.

  • A week huh?  Smart kid.

    Good luck getting the visa!

  • hahaha great story :D

  • good story to ponder randy. and you had me thinking about your question again while i was driving to work. i heard on NPR the story about al gore at the white house this week meeting GW for the first time since the debacle election in 2001. for sure gore was having a ‘shattered dream and disappointment’ moment when he conceded the presidency. but 7 years later, i think gore came out the better of the two, don’t you think? he is having a blast right promoting global climate change, winning the nobel peace prize, and i am sure he doesn’t want to trade shoes with GW. just to show when things don’t work out like you wanted, it’s not the end of the world, and there will be better days.
