Month: November 2007

  • The Deal

A young boy had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father, who was a minister, if they could discuss the use of the car. His father took him to his study and said to him, “I’ll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up, study your bible a little and get your hair cut and we’ll talk about it.”

After about a month the boy came back and again asked his father if they could discuss use of the car. They again went to the father’s study where his father said, “Son, I’ve been real proud of you. You have brought your grades up, you’ve studied your bible diligently, but you didn’t get your hair cut!”

The young man waited a moment and replied, “You know Dad, I’ve been thinking about that. You know, Samson had long hair, Moses had long hair, Noah had long hair, and even Jesus had long hair….”

To which his father replied….”Yes, and they WALKED everywhere they went!”

    Interesting Facts

Velcro was invented by a Swiss guy who was inspired by the way burrs attached to clothing. Hershey’s Kisses are called that because the machine that makes them looks like it’s kissing the conveyor belt.

If you stretch a standard Slinky out flat it measures 87 feet long.

The microwave was invented after a researcher walked by a radar tube and a chocolate bar melted in his pocket.

    Glue was invented by accident.

Here’s a study saying that most Americans don’t read anymore.
Do  you read books?  If so approximately how many books a year?
(Personnally I read all the time.  I read at least a book a month, sometimes more.)

  • Tom & Jerry Lessons

tom_jerry02.jpgI watched a marathon of Tom & Jerry
    Here’s what I learned:
Killer has different sets of false teeth.
Killer lives at Tom’s girl friend’s place.
Jerry doesn’t allow alone time for Tom & his girl friend.
Jerry doesn’t have a girl friend.
Jerry has a cousin named “muscles”.
So…. if you have a teenage daughter, get a dog named killer and a mouse named Jerry, so that Tom doesn’t have a chance.  lol

Songs to go with the person:
    Noah:
Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head”

    What song describes you?

  • Little Johnny watched his mother put cold cream…

Little Johnny watched, fascinated, as his mother was putting cold cream on her face.

“Why are you rubbing that cream on you face, mommy?” he asked.

“To stay pretty for daddy,” said his mother.

A few minutes later, she began removing the cream with a tissue.

“What’s the matter mommy?” asked Little Johnny. “Giving up?”

  • Thanksgiving

I can’t believe Thanksgiving is aready this next week.  Alicia is bringing a friend home from college. -He’s a black guy.  We’re thinking of playing a practical joke on the Grandmothers.  -let Alicia wear Kim’s diamond ring and say nothing.
What are your plans for Thanksgiving?

  • Iraqi Family

I had an interesting day yesterday.  I took the Iraqi family to the Social Security office so they could apply for SSN numbers.  I listened to Mayasa’s stories of life in Iraq, leaving and arriving here in America.  She told me that her family nearly didn’t get out of Syria.  Her airline tickets were taken.   She was accused of being a spy for America.  (The airline allowed her to travel even without tickets.) The family was so grateful to be in America.  They excitedly talked about how beautiful America is and how wonderful Americans are.  I have a new appreciation for the USA.

Green.Monster.gifThe big bad xanga monster is out again eating all the comments.  I tried to comment on several of your sites but……

  • The graphics in 'Modern Warfare' are stunning.
‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’ among the year’s best

I watched some Teens playing a game like this.  So realistic.  Personally it disturbed me.
What do you think of today’s games that teens/children play?

  • Motivation

I’m having trouble motivating myself today.  Life has been a roller coaster the past few months and I’m on the bottom loop trying to muster enough strength to climb the next loop while feeling loopy.

How do you motivate yourself when motivation isn’t there?

  • Heir Force

Heir Force is our ministry to the 5th & 6th graders.  Yesterday a couple brought their grandbaby in with them and presented a lesson on: “God will always take care of us.”  The kids loved it.  The 6 month old coed at just the right times.  Nothing like a little one to teach everyone.
