Troubling Times
Today multitudes of people will be looking for hope. Multitudes will turn to others looking for hope. Others will turn to a multitude of other things looking for that same hope. People will go to church, expecting hope to come from the pulpit. People will look to our Presidential canidates, expecting hope to come from them. Sometimes I wonder if we’ve become the “Walmart generation”. We go to our selected source and demand our desired product, whether it’s the church or some other area. I’ve heard people say, “You must go to the church that feeds you.” That sounds good but it falls into the “Walmart generation.” How many go to a restaurant and bring your fork? You expect the restaurant to feed you. It souldn’t be that way with the church. You need to bring your own fork. When I was a young Christian God taught me a valuable lesson. I was hurting. I wanted to talk it over with the Pastor. As I saw him coming towards me, God spoke so clearly to my heart and said, “I wanted to talk to you about that.”
“Do not ask what your country (or church) can do for you; but what you can do for God.

Great post!!!!
Did you see THIS? http://www.obamacrimes.com
A Democrat lawyer is saying Obama is not a natural-born citizen, disqualified to run
hope comes from God-I agree.
Agreed. This society has become so used to getting what they want when they ask for it that they have lost sight of how to fend for themselves. We are what is referred to as a “Service Economy”, meaning that we import all the industry and most of our jobs are serving the wants of others. Instead of manufacturing a car, we provide support for the On-Star system in it. Instead of raising the cattle and grain, we sell it at a restaurant. This is the kind of thinking that happened to Israel over and over again – they flourished enough to forget how to take care of themselves. One of my concerns is how well we’d recover if several key nations in the world decided to stop trading with us (like China). Whatever the case, God is with us – which means that it’s our responsibility to teach ourselves to go after Him, and He’ll carry us on faith the rest of the way… Kind of like swimming in the ocean – Are you swimming further our or is the current taking you? Both.
I honestly believe we get out of worship what we put in to it. Worship is about God and not about us, but somehow we do benefit. Worship should happen 7 days a week and not just on Sunday morning. Sunday morning is a continuation of what has happened during the week.
My thoughts are a little scattered. Hope you cans sort through them.
Amen! Good point!
I also think about how so few people even bring their bible to church anymore. And maybe only half of those actually open them during service. We expect the scripture to be put on the screen and the pastor to explain every little detail so we don’t have to study on our own.
Very true! It’s not about us.. It’s all about God. To God be the glory!
