Month: December 2008

  • We had a foster child several years ago by the name of Dustin.  He's grown much older and is now in Heir Force, ministry to 5th & 6th graders.  He also takes correction very well - & he needs it -lol.

    Dear Father,

Help me to continue in the faith by holding on to what you have
given and by being stable and steadfast.

Don't let anything move me away from the hope of the Good News
which I heard, which was proclaimed throughout the whole creation
    under heaven.

You make my endurance possible by filling me with your Spirit.
Fill me more and more! And thank you for being my Father.

In the name of Jesus and by his authority I ask. Amen.

  • Foster Children

We got 2 new foster children last night.  We're excited about it.  Baby & a 4 year old.  The 4 year old boy is very active.  Baby kept us up last night.

  • Role Model

From the book:  Transforming Children into Spiritual Champions

    by George Barna
    (Barna is a research group)
    Interesting find:
Young people admit to being highly influenced by their role models and to be actively seeking more such examples, but nearly half(44%)admit that they don't have any role models.  While parents are the most commonly named role models, it is revealing that when children are asked to identify the 3 most important people in the world to them, only one-third name their mother or father.  Even so, the vast majority of young kids- more than 9 out of 10 - say they get along well with their parents, and most have no desire to have their parents eliminated from their lives.

Action Point:  Let's be the role model that our children will want to emulate.

  • Mathematical

Imagine creating a mathematical system that remains essentially as accepted today as it was more than 2,000 years ago! Euclid accomplished this amazing feat.

Born in Alexandria, Egypt, around 300 BC, he left us the 13-volume Elements, providing rules, definitions, procedures, and explanations that still ring true. Other than the Bible, this book is the most translated, published, and studied book produced in the Western world.

Ptolemy I Soter, ruler of Egypt, once asked Euclid if there was a shorter road to geometry than through the Elements. Euclid replied, "There is no royal road to geometry." He understood that building a solid system depended on laying a strong foundation and doing things the right way.

This same principle applies to every area of our lives-our work, finances, health, and relationships. And, as Paul taught, each of us also needs a strong foundation for our spiritual lives: "For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ." No society, nation, or person can thrive without the right foundation, and there are no shortcuts.

Today, many consider Biblical principles "out of date." Some embrace worldly philosophies and fads that sound attractive, but won't survive the test of time.

Remember: Fashions and trends may change, movements will come and go. "The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever" (Isaiah 40:8). Base your life on Jesus Christ and God's unchanging Word.

  • Rev Tsetu

I've been doing a lot of thinking about Reverend Tsetu and his family.  I'm not ready to think of him in heaven yet.  (That will come later.) Memories have scrolled across my mind since yesterday, of time with him and the Nigerians.  I spoke to Alicia, my daughter, yesterday (she came with me to Nigeria)  Alicia was good friends with one of Rev. Tsetu's daughters.  (It was rare for a Father/Daughter to be together in the Nigerian culture.)  I'm going down memory lane with these pictures.

  • Martyred

Rev While India was having it's terror attacks, so we Nigeria.  When I was in Nigeria a year ago Rev Tsetu was our guide.  He was so kind and he loved Jesus so very much.  I hurt for his loss.  Alicia, my daughter, became good friends with one of his daughters.

Rev. Bulus N. Tsetu, Superintendent of the Pankshin District, Assemblies of God Nigeria, was brutally martyred on Friday, November 28th, 2008 during religious riots in the city of Jos. He was an exceptional church-planter and soul winner. Under his ministry, literally thousands of people have come into the Kingdom of God.

Rev. Tsetu was a very dear friend of Missionaries Rich & Deb Reid and worked closely with them during their years in Nigeria. In the past, he has been severely persecuted for his evangelistic efforts. Now he has made the ultimate sacrifice. While we mourn the loss of our beloved brother, we know that he has achieved the ultimate goal of believers.

Please remember his wife, Jemimah, their nine children, and a host of friends who are struggling to cope with this atrocity.
