  • Pain

As I observe people I see many people avoiding pain.  I avoided pain for years.  I’ve seen people blame the pain on something or someone else.  Many people run away from it.  Pain they received as a child.  Pain they received by rejection. Pain they received by unmet expectations.  Pain they couldn’t even identify.  They run from those that love them. They run and move away.  They run and change churches or jobs.  They run from the One who loves them the most.  There is no way of escaping the pain in this life.  Nearly everyone I’ve met has a “painful” story.

What do you do with your pain?

  • TALK about it (where it’s “safe” to do so, i.e. to trusted loved ones IN PERSON but NOT online, for the most part) and PRAY about it.

  • Food and tea has a wonderful way of diluting pain. Really

  • I avoided pain for years after my brother died. It ended up causing me even more problems trying to forget it than letting it in! I think a lot of people who has gone through something rough will tell you that once you weather something like that, everyday pain like break ups and failure aren’t that bad. I know it sounds really cheesy but it makes me be able to live a bit more fully and take more chances when I know that I’ve been through worse and gotten through it.

  • good question and I read the others above.

I guess time heals all wounds and as you get older you see that the pain you’re in will make you who you are later-you’re an open book and it’s not finished yet and sometimes the worst thing can be your greatest blessing.

  • What do I do with my pain?
I try to deal with pain whether emotionally, mentally or physically.
There is a healing process to go through.
    Jesus bore our PAIN.

I might write a blot on my PAIN.
You have stated a lot of good things in this post.
Thanks for sharing this with us.

    P.S
I hope my spelling is correct. :0)

  • Pain. I have experienced both self-inflicted pain and pain inflicted by an outside force.

The thing is, when you try to run from pain you find out that it can run just a little bit faster than you can.

What we need to do is face the pain head on, never wavering from our position. Now, it is nearly impossible to do this alone, which is why we need God. We need the One who took our punishment, our pain, so that we may live life and live it to the fullest. Never give in to the pain; don’t let the Enemy win.

  • Just as a child who runs to his Mom so do I run to Him with my pain, hurts and disappointments….Good question!  ryc, Yes, He Is!

    Blessings to you….Mike

  • We have to endure it .
But what kind of pain do you speak ? Mental or physical ?  It is not quite the same , I think.

  • I eat it for breakfast…

  • Most of the pains are blessings in disguise.

  • I take pain to the Father.  Many times if we funnel pain to the Lord, we can use lessons learned to help other people in their pain. : )

It’s great that you are a foster parent, that is just amazing.  (Your Uncle Buck comment was so funny!)

    Blessings!

  • I worship through my pain.

I remember coming from a worship/arts conference and on the way home I began having a miscariage. I wound up in the ER until 2 am. I sat and sang worship songs to Him that night in the ER ( when the doc wasn’t there)

Then a week later I said a prayer that was deeper and more in lament then I have ever been and ever want to be again. I had never been so real with God and my pain was never so real. I will never forget that day. Because through that prayer of lament God gave me hope and a mission to paint the baby’s room anyhow…because He gave me faith that day, that He would send us a child… 1 year later… I had Amber….
