  • Rick Warren

I was bothered concerning Christians reactions to Rick Warren and President Obama.  I did some research concerning Billy Graham and President Clinton.  What I found was strikingly simular to Rick Warren and President Obama.

What happened before Bill Clinton was sworn in:
40 religious leaders wrote Billy Graham, urging him to skip the swearing in
Billy Graham refused to take advice from anyone who suggested he shouldn’t pray.
Billy Graham said, “No president stands outside the need for God’s constant help and guidance.”  & “Furthermore, the Scripture commands us to pray for all those in autority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”

Billy Graham, Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton became good friends.

  • Custody Battle

American history was driven by a weird turn of events.  George Gale married a widow from Virgina and brought her back home to London, along with 3 of her children from a previous marriage.  Not long after he arrived in England, Mildred Gale died in child birth.  Her will directed her new husband to raise his stepchildren.  He applied for legal custody, but Lawrence Washington from Virgina disbuted the case.  A custody battled ensued, and Lawrence won the case.  The children were returned to Virginia.
One of the children brought back was named Augustine.  He had three children, one of which was named George Washington.  The Revolutionary War hero and 1st President of the United States could of fought for the other side had not a trans-Atlantic custody battle ensued.

  • Star

A few thousand years ago a star stood still.  It was a most humble birth, in a humble place.  But the heavens were not humble.  Matthew 2:9 – “The star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was.”  In other words, the star actually stood still and apparently shot its beams downward until they converged on the very house where Jesus was.
How did the men feel, when the star they had been following stopped?
Were the men momentarily out of breath?
Did a holy fear come upon them?
Did they have a breathless expression between the knock on the door and the answer from His parents?
Did their heart leap within them as they cautiously approached the promised child?
What was their conversation as they departed?
Does your heart leap within you as you think about the birth of Jesus?

  • Merry Christmas to all.  It looks like we’re going to be snowed in for the next few days.  We had to postpone our Christmas Eve plans to my Mom’s place.  We’ll do it on Saturday if the storm has pasted by then.

  • storm
Yankton is west of Sioux City.  It doesn’t look good.  We’re having freezing drizzle right now and the roads are very icy.

(CNN)– President Obama took his family on an outing Saturday to the Oregon State-George Washington University basketball game in support of First Lady Michelle Obama’s brother Craig Robinson.

Robinson, who coaches the Oregon State Beavers, was cheered on by the President, who snacked on popcorn, the First Lady, Sasha, Malia and the girls’ grandmother Marian Robinson.

Having a coach who’s also the president’s brother-in-law meant another perk: according to the Beavers website, the team had the opportunity to tour the White House on Friday.

“I wanted the guys to experience all of the history surrounding one of the most recognizable buildings in the world,” coach Robinson said, according to the website. “It was a special experience and one I hope these guys will never forget.”

    Did you know…..
    blonde
is a noun for females, but blond is a noun for males. It’s also an adjective for males and females.

  • Pearl Harbor

    December 7, 1941…
…lest we forget President Roosevelt’s own words, “A date which will live in infamy”.

At 7:53 am the attack began with the battle cry “Tora! Tora! Tora!” and changed the focus of United States Navy from a battleship-based force to one based on the striking power of the Aircraft Carrier. It became the mission of naval carrier aviation and our submarine force to stop and push back the Japanese expansion in the Pacific.

Our losses at Pearl Harbor were great with 2,335 servicemen and 68 civilians killed, and 1,178 wounded. In the attack five battleships were sunk; all eight were damaged. Three light cruisers, three destroyers and three smaller vessels were destroyed along with 188 aircraft.  U.S. Pacific Fleet aircraft carriers, Lexington, Enterprise and Saratoga were at sea and therefore escaped the attack.
