  • Kingdom

We can have an individual view or an “over all” view. Several years ago I had a wise boss that pulled me aside and told me that if I’m among the workers and can’t see the entire picture. I was a supervisor but instead of supervising I was working along side the workers. I wasn’t effective in keeping everyone on task.
Kingdom is not about and individual, it’s about a community. We know who is the King and we follow His authority.
    Let’s take a look at a scenario:
You are on the job site. A coworker is constantly attempting to climb the ladder ahead of everyone else.
You can have an “individual” outlook on this situation and take offense at the coworker. You go to work and find the worker is a threat to your job. You avoid that person. You don’t help him because doing that will not advance your career.
You can have an “Kingdom” outlook on this situation and you look at what is best for the job and for everyone concerned. You see the coworker as actually helping the business and you behind the scene try to help him. This person is not a threat because he’s actually promoting the business, even though his motives are not correct. When you see something that actually hurts the business you address that in a non-selfish way.

    Matthew 6:33 RSV

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well.

  • Our Greatest Threat

I enjoyed listening to John Thune & Kristi Noem yesterday.  She’s running for SD US Representative.  I think one of the most effect ads is with her children.  Kristi’s oldest daughter tells the younger kids that they have to pay 42,000 dollars.  “Mom, Do I have to pay 42,000$?”  At the end Kristi comes in and says, “I’ll try to take care of that.”  We really do have run away spending and economist are telling us we can’t keep going on like this too much longer.  The Chief of Military operations said our greatest threat is the debt.

What do you think our greatest threat is?

  • My view of the future

Here’s what I see concerning the future:
Your phone will be your computer, your tv remote, your car starter, your house remote, etc. You will sit down to your TV/Computer screen and turn on your TV with your cell phone. You will pick up your I-Pad and interact with the screen. Your TV program will be playing a show and you will be in contact with other people watching the same show. – Let’s take a football game. You will be chatting with the other people while watching the game. The announcer will be announcing the game while checking the chat line that is connected with the game. He will be responding to those on that chat line while announcing the game. If you want to replay anything you’ll be able to do it while staying in real time from your I-Pad which is in sync with your TV. While watching the game you decide to check in on your little one sleeping. You click on the nanny cam and see that he’s still asleep. Your teen daughter is suppose to be at the store. You click on her GPS signal and find she’s where she’s suppose to be. It’s half time during the game and you want to check your cars “stats”. You hit your “car” button and find that your oil is just a little low. Your wife sees a commercial and likes the product, she picks up her I-Pad and gets more details and buys the item. Your boss told you it was your weekend to watch the Job site. You click onto the job site video system and see all is ok. You check the messages left at work and forward the messages to the other co-workers. The half time is over and you switch back to the game. You manage to get a great in play action picture from the football game and send it to all your friends on Facebook.

How do you see the future in the area of technology?

  • Boy Meets World

I like watching this show.  It takes me back to a time that was simpler.  Cory & Tapanga’s love for each other is pure.  The show I watched yesterday was their first marriage fight.  Cory was upset because Tapanga always did things better than him.  Tapanga did not make Cory feel like a man.

Do we have to rely on other people to substantiate us as an individual? Is that a set up for broken relationships?

  • Navy

      photo
I so remember this scene.  This sailor is a cook on board USS Nimitz.  We were called Mess Specialists when I was in the Navy.  Cooks are called Culinary Specialists now.  I was stationed aboard USS Kitty Hawk.

    • Internet

How has the internet has changed me?  Blogging, twittering and face book has caused me to think in a different way. I continually try to think of what to tweet & write. My kindle has changed me as well. I can share what I’ve learned with via facebook and twitter, right from my kindle. I just highlight a sentence or two, type in a message and it posts on twitter and facebook.  I get feedback and I like that.  So yes, the internet social network has changed me. I find myself looking forward to seeing what is happening in people’s lives. I have a few categories that I love: Navy, Nasa, Nigeria, teachers and Christian Musicians (especially Stephen Curtis Chapman’s family). I enjoy keeping up with the xanga blogs.
I like the Google reader. I can check on all my feeds in that one area.

    • Timelink, Ziggurat, Carbon Neutral City, Dubai Architecture, Sustainable Communities

      Population 1 million
Timelinks claims that their Ziggurat will be capable of running completely off the grid by utilizing steam, wind, and other natural resources. The tightly knit city will also feature a super efficient public transportation system that runs both horizontally and vertically, and plans are being drawn up to utilize both public and private green spaces for agricultural opportunities.

    • Gone

      Rapture

In case I’m missing along with millions of others:
We did not get hit with an attack from outspace as the news media is reporting. Aliens did not abduct me along with millions of others that are missing. We were raptured off this earth by the Lord Jesus Christ. You may be saying, “I go to church and I’m still here, so it couldn’t be the rapture.” Well you need to have Jesus in your heart and be in good standing with Father God. Good standing means you’ve asked for forgiveness for all your sins. I’m sorry to tell you that you will be in a rough way for the next few years. I recommend that you completely give your heart to Jesus, but you know it will cost you your life. If you follow my recommendation I’ll be seeing you after this is all over, or sooner if you’re executed for your belief. We’ll be returning with the Mighty Christ and all will be ok then. So until then……

“Watch therefore (give strict attention, be cautious and active), for you do not know in what kind of day (whether a near or remote one) your Lord is coming.”

      - Matthew 24:42, Amplified Bible

    • Adventure

      IMG00362-20100621-1201
I carry my camera like a a western gun fighter carried his gun.  I out camera many and get the right picture – of course that’s after several pictures are shot.  There’s a story behind this picture.  The boys are smiling because it’s an unexpected adventure.  We broke down in our van and had to stop at the 1880′s diner.  (It’s a old train made into a diner.)  We did managed to send all the kids on another bus headed to camp and all was well.

Kalli is very ornery.  She loves to hide the remote, take my chair or anything she can do to keep me off guard.  -(But I love the attention.)  Every night she has to have books read to her.  Right now she’s studying the word, “the” and we have to stop and look for that word in all her stories.
