  • I like the word pensive, it’s an emotion word, much like liminal.  I was in deep thought last night, a pensive mood.  I had spent the entire day at Social Services, on a review team of all the foster kids of this area.  I can’t get over the fact that so many children are hurting.  It haunts me.

Here is my question:  How can we elevate the importance of children to a throw away society?

  • The word of the day is interesting. I don’t think I’ve come across it in anything I’ve read before.

Awhile back, I wrote in my posts my concern over the increasing incidents of abuse and killing of children by adults. It was bothering me. Also bothering me were increased reports of bullying, some of which resulted in kids committing suicide. It bothers me, too, that so many children are hurting. I think more adults need to be concerned and become more vocal that children deserve better treatment by society.

As it happens, I recently found out that my younger daughter and husband have become certified to be foster parents. They are also considering possible adoption of 2 brothers to their family. Their children (and my grandchildren) are one son. 17, who will graduate H.S. in June, a daughter who is a freshman in H.S., and daughter, 12, in middle school.
