  • Graduations

We went to some graduations and graduation parties yesterday and Friday.  I saw people I haven't seen in a long time.  Some really aged and some didn't age at all.

Did you go to any graduations?

  • Rummaging

Yankton is having a city wide rummage sale.  Austin, Noah and I went to several rummage sales this morning.  It wasn't as crazy as it has been in the past because of the lite drizzle.  We got some things, so here's the game:

Guess what we got at the rummage sale. (May be more than one item)
    Magic cards
    Dart Board
    Games
    Baby Items
    Nerf Guns

    Psalms 20:8

  • Angry People

In my position I deal with angry people at times.  I try to picture myself behind a customer service desk dealing with angry customers when I have to deal with an angry person.  I've had someone spit in my face when they didn't agree with my view.  Because of the way I dealt with him, we're good friends today.  I didn't react and get angry back.  He was having a horrible day and just blew.  It hurts to get called horrible names, but it's more painful to make a life time enemy.  Most of the time the person that lashes out at you is really angry about something way different, you just got in the way and set him off.

How do you deal with people that lash out at you in an angry way?

  • Secret to Long Life

Jay Leno interviewed Dick Van Dike the other night.  Dick is 85 and looks very healthy and happy.  Jay asked Dick, "What is your secret to long life"?  His answer was, "Keep Moving".

What do you think is the secret to long life?

  • White House Rapper

Common was invited to rap at the White House. New York police were outraged.
    Here's why?
A Song for Assata Lyrics by Common
Assata Shakur, formerly known as Joanne Chesimard, was convicted for the 1973 slaying of Trooper Werner Foerster on the New Jersey Turnpike. She escaped prison in 1979, and is living in asylum in Cuba. Common in these lyrics says this about Assata Shakur, "Your power and pride are beautiful" This is the center of the NJ Police outrage.  He also rapped this about President Bush, "Burn a Bush cos for peace he no push no button"

His raps are very violent and disturbing.  The performer had advocated assassinating Bush and violence against police.

Was it right to allow this rapper to entertain in the White House?
What message is being sent to our young people?

  • Secret Revealed

One of my last posts was on secrets and I stated that I really didn't have any.  Well some of you challenged me in saying that a secret was an unshared thought.  Well I considered that and here goes:
Our motives behind adoption and fostering many kids in our home and why our house never goes diaper free.
I rarely share this because I just don't like to visit it out loud. It's caused pain and hurt through out the years for both myself and my wife.  For many years we just plain wouldn't talk about it either to each other or in public.  A day came when our children were old enough to understand and we told them.  They were hurt especially our oldest.  Still years after that we kept it to ourselves.  A day came when we felt we needed to share it publicly.  We both agreed.  When we were teens my wife had an abortion because the Doctor prescribed it.  We've named the baby - RJ.  We will see him one day and I will have to look him in the eye and explain why we rejected him.  But, our tears will be wiped away and then we will spend eternity in total peace.

So, do you have any unshared thoughts?  Are you motivated by your past?

    Random thoughts:
After helping in Kalli's Kindgarden class, I took Kalli and her friend home.  Kalli felt it was neccessary to warn her friend of my gas problems as we got into the van.  LOL

  • GPS

Let's take this scenario:  A company can track your every movement.  Whether it's by your cell phone, your car, gps systems in your vehicle or a tracking disk in your drivers license.  Every where you go is recorded.

Would you want to have a daily detailed report of your every movement and your kids movement emailed to you? A monthly compiled report?  Travel by car, walking distant, places visited, ect.

Take that scenario further.  What kind of information about yourself would you like to have easily access to?

  • Secrets

There are xanga blogs to go to to tell your secrets.  I thought.  Do I have any secrets?  I thought again. I couldn't really come up with any secrets.  Now I could probally come up with gossip but I hate that.  I live very transparent.  When I mess up I let everyone around me know.

Does it mean you have a boring life if you have no secrets?
    Do you live with secrets?

  • Advice Needed

Parenting is a full time job.  Since kids is my job I write a lot of advice for parents.  My focus the last few weeks has been on toddlers and anger.  I would love to hear some of your thoughts on that subject.

    Why do toddlers get angry?
What can you do with an angry toddler?

  • Mystery

I was listening to a conversation two ladies were having. The one lady had been dealing with severe cold sores on her lips and in her mouth.  She went to the Doctor and got medicine but nothing worked.  This is the second week.  The other lady made this comment:  "My Mom got the same thing a few years ago. She was on chemotherapy".  She also commented that she's run across several other people that have gotten the same thing.  The second lady went on to tell her theory.  "I think it's radiation."  "Radiation has been detected in the Midwest, because of the jet stream."

Do you know anyone that has experienced anything similar?
Do you think it is possibly radiation poison from Japan?
