Month: July 2011

  • Crying

The last movie I saw that made me cry was “Soul Surfer.” In fact we went and seen it twice and I cried both times.  It’s not too often that I shed tears but it always feels good when I do.

    Do you cry very often?
What emotion have you had most often this past month?

  • Giving

We got an new opportunity to give out more food and I’ve been setting that up.  We’re picking up food from Wal Mart and distributing it to people that need it.  I’m excited about it because people here in Yankton need as much help as possible.  A lady was telling me that she just couldn’t make the money stretch because things have gone up so much.  We also run a furniture bank that we give out all kinds of furniture and we are packed out.  It seems like in this economy people are giving a lot more.

Do you tend to give out more when things get tight?
What do you think the chinese letters say? (Has to do with the subject I wrote about)
    Answer: Never Give Up
    Family: Randy
    Psalms 25:17-21
    Word of the Day: slaphappy
My son has been slaphappy lately, hopefully he doesn’t do anything stupid.

Family Feud Question: What is a crazy thing to buy?

  • Obama

President Obama said he was tempted to bypass congress and change the rules about the debt on his own.
I’m amazed that a lot of you have expressed that you would like President Obama to act on his own.  He has quoted President Lincoln.  Lincoln did not follow the constitution completely.

Would you be in favor of President Obama bypassing congress and extending the dept ceiling?

    Psalms 25:16
    Word of the Day: badinage
Badinage is my mood today because it’s my day off.

Family Feud Question: What is your favorite thing to do on your day off?

    “IF I” question:  If I was a mood, I would be ____________________________

  • A Big Whoops

    Cody
My Grandson stayed at our place the last few nights. He wanted to come to bed with me when I did. Cody has failure to thrive and has to be fed through his stomach.  He was hooked up to his machine and a tube connected to his stomach.  Shortly after he fell asleep he began kicking me, so I went to move him.  I apparently was laying on his tube and I didn’t know it. When I moved him over his button came out of his stomach. I called my wife and she panicingly ran up the stairs. She called our daughter and she gave us instructions. We first had to connect a syringe to the button to get the water out of the bubble and then put it back into his stomach. My wife tried and couldn’t do it. I gave it a try and it wouldn’t go. I continued to try and it slipped back in and we filled the bubble with water again. It’s happened a few other times and we’ve not been able to get it back in with out hospital assistance. I was so relieved it went back in.

What big “Whoops” has happened to you?

Thanks to everyone that responded on the quality of kids.  I will mention your answers when I speak this Sunday.

  • Shut up

I rarely say this word to anyone, but I have used it on occasions when I needed to.  It’s a word I do say in my mind silently sometimes when I’m listening to someone.  Note the word “listening” because probaly the other person isn’t letting any words come out of my mouth and they are talking nonsense. I say it in rapid succession that is equivalent to putting my fingers in my ears.  I used it last night during the President’s speech because of the blame game. I used it after his speech when Boehner was speaking because of the republicans tactic of pushing the debt problem into political timing.

Do you use the word shut up?

  • Children

(Not all the kids are in this picture)

We have a house full of children.  I have 8 children, 3 biological and 5 adopted.  We also have 1 grandchild and 2 foster children.  Four of the older children live on their own.  My job is with children. I taught my lesson today with a huge squirt gun. (Try that with the adults and see how far you get -lol) Next Sunday I’ll be speaking to the adults and I’m so looking forward to it.  My subject will be “child like faith”.

What qualities in kids do you like the best?

Word of the Day – Lucid
I have to have lucid lessons when I teach the children.
    Psalms: 25:15
Family Feud Question: On a scale of 1-10, How devoted are parents to their children?

  • Memory

As I think back to my childhood, my earliest memory is kindergarden.  I remember my teacher. I especially remember my little rug.  It’s very good memories.

    What is your earliest memory?

  • People

The world has all kinds of personalities.  There are personalities that drive me crazy but I know I need them to make me complete. There are outgoing, reserved, quiet, loud personalities just to name a few.  I’m more a quiet person, but when I have something to say I make it known.

What kind of personality are you?

    Word of the Day: sanguine
I want to have a sanguine personality today.
    Psalms 25:14

  • Perfect Church

People go and do things because they are motivated in certain directions.  Pick one or all of the following question.  I’m curious to know what motivates us.

If you are not going to church what would draw you into the doors?
If you are going to church – Why?
What drew you into the church you are in?
What draws people to come to your church?

    Psalms 25:13

  • Weather

The weather here has been very hot.  The air conditioners can’t keep up.  It doesn’t look like much relief in sight.  I’m off to our weekly bread/pastry delievery.  We give away a lot of those items every week.

What is the weather like where you’re at?
What is your favorite season of the year?

Family Feud Question: What country has the best beaches?

    Psalms: 25:12
