  • In him was life, and the life was the light of men.  And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.  I thought of this verse as I was thinking of Terry.  I continually hear the statement – vegetative state.  But what does that mean?  I heard one person say that she had no consciousness.  How could that be said?  Because people that don’t have the life of Jesus in them can not understand true life.  Terry is alive and she is consciencous.  Years ago I conducted camps to the disabled.  We had a few people that were in the same condition that Terry is in.  I will tell you without doubt that they had conscienousness.  They responded to the presence of God.  It was incredible.  Unsaved man only thinks life is in the brain, Saved man knows life is in the spirit.  Terry’s spirit will never die – only her body which our judicial system is killing.  I want so badly to curse these “bent on death” people, but that is not my Lord’s desire.  So I say, Father, forgive them, they don’t know what they’re doing.

  • We have a building being torn down here in Yankton – Morgan’s Manufacturing.  The building was vacant for awhile.  It caused me to think of the dirt that is now exposed.  The bulldozers are leveling the ground for future use.  But my mind went back to the dirt.  I don’t know how long the building has been there but it has to have been several decades.  All that time the dirt under that building grew nothing.  But now since the ground is exposed it will probally grow plants.  My point is this:  Do you have something that has been erected in your life that sits upon the ground of your heart?  Do you have portions of your life that nothing can grow because of a preexisting structure? That preexisting structure could be religion, tradition or just about anything.  God wants to plant his word in your life.  Is your heart ready to grow in his love?

  • I had a wonderful time yesterday with two of my good friends.  Harry Flanagan from Bradon Valley and Jeff Cooper from Sioux Falls.  We’ve been practicing “Character Connex”.  It’s a program that we will be doing in Public Schools.  We have one scheduled on April 1st.  Possibly others shortly after that.  We’re excited about it.

I’m having a lot of un in the book of Ezekiel.  Check it out and tell me your thoughts.

  • I think about the people that have recently been cast into the national spot light.  Alley Smith, the Schiavo’s to name a few.  What if you were cast into the national spot light because of some unexpected occurrence.  Suddenly you found yourself before the nations camera’s.  The news media began looking into your live and broadcasting their finding across the networks.  Would it proclaim Jesus or something else.  Well one day you will be cast into the spot light.  Everything you have done will be examined.  As I think of that day, I draw closer to Jesus.  It’s like a little boy that has done something wrong in a store.  The store manager is coming after him.  What does the boy do?  He clings to his mother.  Oh, yes he’ll be in trouble with her but with love.  God will judge us, but if we have Jesus in our heart he’ll see his son had paid the price.

  • It’s a sad day in America.  Judge James Whittemore refused to order the reinsertion of Terri Schiavo’s feeding tube.  My heart is grieved because we have walked through another dark door.  The question is not:  Is Terry’s husbands rights being upheld?  But the question is: What is life?  I told my wife last night my life was not my own.  I didn’t have the right to make the decision about my own life concerning this situation of starvation.    When America was polled it showed more in favor of allowing her to die.  That type of thinking is consistent with the postmodern mind set of ”Doing what is right in my own eyes” and not taking God’s desires in consideration.  In essence it’s saying “We’re God”.

  • Pastor’s sermon yesterday was on the cost of serving Jesus.  At our homegroup last night we got into the specifics of that cost.  It will cost us our family, friends and the things we care about the most.  Why?      Because we are at war.  Satan will do everything in his power to cause disconnection.  He uses human imagination to destroy relationships.  We must stay connected to Jesus no matter what.

  • I was so happy that Terry Schiavo’s life was spared last night.  As a nation we can’t afford to have any more innocent blood on us.  This is a wake up call.  If the life of an individual has to be saved by the congress what have we come to?  I grieve over America’s sin.

  • Friendship with God.  Think of your last prayer.  Were you more devoted to your own desires or to God.  When we’re first saved, we served God primarily on a outer level.  It may of felt like we were really close but it was because we were a baby God’s eyes.  But as we grow God will distance himself.  Why?  Because he wants to teach us to follow him.  We can’t stay a bottle fed baby.  I think one of the reasons people leave their first love is because serving God is different. He expects the stink to leave.  I was happy when my children were potty trained.   As you get older as a Christian you have to die to the old self.  It’s not your will but his that is left after your flesh is out of the way.

  • Postmoderns – The interesting thing about postmodernists is their ability to live comfortably with contradictions. Why? Because there are no troubling absolutes to be reckoned with. Take the case of Terry – the woman in Florida who is brain damaged. The courts have pulled her feeding tube. Postmodern thinking on this is that there is no absolutes in this case. “Rights” are more important than God’s word on sanctity of life. Think about it. In order to protect “American Rights” a woman will be allowed to starve to death. I watched the parents grieve over the apparent slow death of their daughter. When asked, the husband’s lawyer said, “My client is also grieving but standing up for his wife’s rights.  This kind of postmodern thinking gives free reign to every form of evil.
