  • I received a stinging comment posted by Homemade Sin on my last post.  She was a very angry young lady.  I’m seeing more and more of that.  She made the comment that the Bible was written by men.  Yes it was but there’s more to the story.  My 10 year old son asked me last night at the dinner table this question: “How do I know the Bible is real?”  I told him the Bible was written by 40 different men over a period of approximately 6000 years without contradiction.  No other book on this earth can make that claim.  Sure anyone could pull verses out and make it appear to contradict but in reality it never does when you stay within the context of each verse.  How else do we know the Bible is the Word of God?  It has many predictions that have been fulfilled within it’s covers.  I could go on but it’s suffice to say the Bible proves itself.

  • i read the comment on the last post in complete shock.  it amazes me the evil we find in the world and how hostile it is at times.  it saddens me even further that at times that hatred and evil is perpetuarted by bad experiences with “christians”  i know that i do not always respond in love but i hope that i learn every day how to respond more and more with the love of christ and to see people through his eyes.  thank you for your example and your ministry.

  • Hey, people are entitled to their opinions. If it means anything, I enjoy reading your posts! I’m sure many other people do also. And Homemade sin, if you happen to be reading this, may God bless you and your days.

  • Poor dear.  Based on her comment, I can see that she’s in search of attention with an approach that usually gets her negative attention.  She’s probably dying for some positive attention from her family.  She’s still searching for her purpose in life and the meaning of love when the answer is in God.  Living in an ethnically diverse neighborhood while growing up, I’ve seen a lot of this myself when I was a teenager.  At the time, I chose a path of love to counter negativity around me without choosing the Christian path.  The level of inner strength and happiness that Christians get from “Being Like Jesus” use to irritate me when I was a teenager.  I use to think that it was a phony facade…that people can’t be that happy for real.  And, I assumed that inner strength was a natural-born trait.  As an adult, I’ve witnessed that the stronger and happier people at the workplace know that God exists and try to ”Be Like Jesus”.  Through my experience, Homemade Sin’s neighbors live fulfilling lives by giving their lives to God…people who have more inner strength and is happier are naturally more fulfilled all around.

  • Thanks for the encouragement.  It’s always good to have.

When faced with that question, I will often quote Scripture from the OT and then ask the person, off the top of the head, who the passage is talking about.  Every time, no matter who I ask, the person will say it is talking about Jesus.  Then I get to share how that passage, depending on which one I choose, was written roughly 400-700 years before Jesus was born.  How can mere men write something so specific about someone who was not yet born – even going so far as to mention Him by name?  (Yes, His name is in the original Hebrew).  No one has ever been able to intelligently argue that.
