Jim Carrey      Who was he?  What was his childhood like?  He was a a rambunctious and fearlessly outspoken child with a wildly active imagination. The youngest of four siblings, Carrey was born and raised in Toronto.

But perhaps the most defining period of Carrey’s young life commenced shortly after his 14th birthday, when his father, an aspiring jazz saxophonist who had worked for years as an accountant to feed the family, lost his job.
Everyone in the family was forced to take a job, including Jim.  This embittered Carrey, eventually dropped out of school.  Carrey sought relief from his anger with comedy.

One of the insights into Jim’s personality is what he (Jim) said about Ron Howard, “He is a child. He just wants to play and take the world with him.”

Whenever I see Jim Carrey on a speaking show I see a little kid that’s screaming for something, and doesn’t know what it is.  Most comedians mask the pain of lack of inner peace, with outward demonstration.  What I’ve read about Carrey, I believe this to be true.  Although the youngest in the family tends to be a naturally born clown; Carrey’s embittered teen years, I believed caused him to stall in those years.
There are many ways to mask the hurt that’s inside you.
Do you mask inner pain?  If you do what ways do you mask it?

    Scenester

Someone intent on “making the scene”.  Identified by their clothing or the cool words they don’t know the meaning of.

  • Childhood Pranks of the famous.

Tad Lincoln, my favorite historian child.  He was the son of President Lincoln. The boy was playfully commissioned a colonel, complete with uniform and sword, and sometimes reviewed the troops with his father.
Tad would play a lot of tricks in the White House.  One famous incident, Tad and his friends hitched 2 goats to a dining room chair and drove it into a sitting room where the 1st lady was giving a tour of the White House to distinguished guests from Boston.  Mom was not happy.  Staff was able to get the goats out of the White House.

The White House had a series of cables and pulleys allowing bells to ring, summoning servants.  Tad discovered a way to chime all the bells at once, sending servants in all directions.

Quentin RooseveltQuentin Roosevelt son of Theodore Roosevelt.
Once he threw a snowball and angered a passerby.  A Police Officer chased him down the street.  Seeking sanctuary in the British Embassy, he shouted back to the officer, “This is English ground! You cannot come in here!”

Quentin was know as part of the “White House Gang”.

What were some of the pranks you played when you were young? or your children have played?

Parental Rights Under Attack in Massachusetts
Judge Wolf told parents that the schools has a right and an obligation to teach same-sex relationships – homosexuality/lesbianism, even in the elementary schools — and that parents’ rights end at the schoolhouse door.
I personnally would be outraged.  My tax dollars are going to support education of what I feel is so wrong.  Gay rights is taking away others rights.
What would be your response if your Public School began to teach your child that same-sex relationships are good?

    More Weirdness:  President Franklin Pierce
On February 2, 1836, Franklin Pierce, Jr. was born.  Two days later the child died and Franklin went back to alcohol.  Jane, his wife, speculated endlessly on and why God allowed their son to die.  She concluded that God took their son because of her husband’s political ambitions.
In 1839 Jane became pregnant again. Then another child was born in 1841 – Benjamin. She urged her husband to retire from politics. Four years later their 4 year old child died of typhus.  Jane became more religious, fearful that an angry God would take their remaining child.
Franklin retired only for a short time.  In 1852 Franklin Pierce entered the Presidential race.  During the election process, Jane prayed fervently that her husband would loose the race.  Her prayers were to no avail, Franklin won an electoral landslide.
In a celebration of the election the President-elect escorted his wife Jane and son Benjamin on a train trip home to Concord, New Hampshire.  Just north of Boston the train car experienced a “sudden snap and jar”.  The 11 year old Benjamin was killed.  An object had hit him in the back of his head.
Jane Means Appleton PierceJane went into seclusion.  She concluded that her son was sacrificed by God, because of her husband. In 1862 she died unnoticed in the public eye.  Franklin returned to the bottle and would die in 1869.
More than a hundred years later, Barbara Bush, fourth cousin to Franklin would enter the White House and become a popular 1st lady.

Does God bring bad things into peoples live because He is mad at them as Jane Pierce believed?

  • Parenting

You Will Not Be a Cool Parent

And that’s pretty okay. While your kids may not think of you as a friend, they will respect you.
You know that kids need discipline and structure, and you’re not afraid to give it to them.
Just be careful that your strictness doesn’t lead to rebellion.
It’s good to have standards and rules, but you don’t need to have an iron fist when enforcing them.
Would you be a cool parent?

    Disipline without Love = Rebellion

What’s the best thing a parent could do for their children?

Now for some weirdness:  -All this snow here has put me in a weird mood.
Throwing Snowballs Is Against The Law In Kansas

Kristen Aberle, of Thawville, Ill., wrote to Topeka City Manager after the little-known ordinance was pointed out as a “Dumb Law” in her government class.
“Violators could be fined up to $499 and jailed for 179 days for breaking the rule, which also prohibits stones and “other missiles.”

  • This didn’t turn out the best – lighting not good but it’s a little of the Character Connex.  – School Assembly.  There were about 250 children in the school – elementary.  We played Human Basketball, had a drama, an illusion, a video and a magic board.  We taught on Honesty.  A lot of fun.

  • Wild Day

We had one wild day yesterday.                                      Today's Cartoon(I felt like the pie.) I work with underprivileged people.  One particular person, a young mother of two boys, needed someone to watch her boys as she went to court.  My wife said OK.  Well we got the call in the afternoon that she was put in jail.  I tried family members and they said no we won’t take the boys. I called Social Services and they said no we won’t immediately take the boys.  Well to make a short story longer, we stressed.  The afternoon hours felt like days.  I watched the 2 year old cry at the door for his Mommy.  I literally broke down and cried.  I spent most of the afternoon on the phone trying to figure out the situation.  In the end the Mom was released and she picked up the boys late last night.

Would we do it again?  Yes, and over again, because the kids are worth fighting for.  I would like to put a plug in for Foster Parenting.  If you can do it, do it.  We’ve had over 50 children through our home and it’s been so rewarding.  At the present time we can’t do fostering because we have too many children in our home.

I would also like to put a plug in for CASA.  - Court Appointed Special Advocate.   I report what I see for court cases for children. I become an advocate for children.  If you can do it, do it.  It’s so needed and rewarding.

Here’s an unrelated question:  How well do you receive correction?

Here’s some irony in the News:  Britian is pulling their troops out of Iraq.  Britian sends Prince Harry to Iraq.vert.harry.ap.jpg                               I wonder who he royally made mad?

  • Kalli

President William Harrison had the longest inaugural address and served the shorest time as a President.  -30 days.  His wife would not attend the inaugural service or even step foot in Washington DC.  Why?  Because the couple had lost 3 sons in 3 consecutive years.  Within 5 years afer the death of William Harrison 9 of the 10 children would die.  But here’s the light at the end of the tunnel:  The suriving child was John Scott Harrison.  He would rise from the death ashes to a congressman, and have a son of his own, named Benjamin Harrison.
Benjamin Harrison became the 23rd President.
What horrible ordeal did you go through?  Did it make you a better person?

Kalli Anne - decided to empty everything out of her dresser (While she was suppose to be taking a nap) and she put on swimmng suit and wants to go swimmng.
HPIM0379 Kalli was mad at me for wanting to take her picture.

Apollo 1 capsule moved to new facility

The historic Apollo 1 capsule has been moved to a newer, environmentally controlled warehouse at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va.
I have a funny story about the Apollo missions.  I was in Australia on board the USS Kitty Hawk.  We had to take small boats to the shore.  A storm hit Perth and many sailors couldn’t make it back to the ship.  An Australian radio station broadcasted this, “The nation that put men on the moon can’t get their men back to their ship.  Please give a Sailor a place to stay tonight.”  Everyone had a place to spend that night.

  • Surprise & Friendship

    Shuttle rollout
Shuttle Atlantis began a sluggish move to the launch pad on Thursday in preparation for a mid-March mission.

Friends of ours had a big surprise.  They have 4 boys and the Doctor told them they were having another boy.  A girl was born this morning at 3:30 am.  Justin & Virginia

Friends  - In the greek the word for brethren is adelphos.  It means two people who were born from the same womb.  During the time of Alexander the Great the word brethren was used to describe faithful soldiers.  Alexander would hold public ceremonies honoring faithful soldiers.  Alexander would embrace the soldier and publicly announce, “Alexander the Great is proud to be the brother of this soldier.”  One of the reasons Alexander was a powerful ruler was because of the faithfulness of his soldiers.  One one particular event, Alexander the Great marched his army to a besieged city.  He met with the leaders and told them to surrender.  They said no.  Alexander then arranged another meeting at the cliffs that were near the city.  Alexander the Great then ordered his army to march forward. They did, the 1st few ranks falling over the cliffs to their death.  Alexander then looked at the leader of the city and said surrender.   The city surrendered.
I watched this word adelphos in action yesterday.  I took my 94 year old Grandmother to see her sister.  They had such love in their eyes for each other.  It was so great to see the interaction of deep rare friendship.

Do you have a friend that you would die for?   (Besides your mate.)

I’m looking forward to this retreat:  HonorBound  (Go to this site and see a lot of my friends.)

What horrible ordeal did you go through?  Did it make you a better person?

  • My favorite cartoon character. - FogHorn   ”Hey, Boy”
    What’s your favorite cartoon character?

We have an xangan who’s having her 17th Birthday.  Go to her site and wish her a Happy Birthday. Veronica

As I read other xanga sites the most common thing I see is the problems in relationships.  In my office I council people on relationships. So, I’d like to take a little time and talk about it.  There are some basis things to know when in a relationship. 1st – You will go through crisis.  -everyone does.  It’s normal.  2nd.  The crisis is either a stepping stone into a deeper relationship or a tombstone.  In order for it to be a stepping stone you must forgive and demand respect.  Also have an exit strategy out of the crisis.  The exit stragey may simply be not to allow your mate to push your buttons.  -nonreactional.  The plain truth:  Not too many people have the nerve to move into change.

What advice would you give to a couple in a rocky relationship?

Setting aside seriousness.  I’ve been contacted by the police.  They want me to register my buttons on my pants as legal weapons. – another one flew off.  -  lol

Squirrel News:  Stowaway squirrel gets trip to Hawaii

HONOLULU (UPI) — A squirrel that stowed away on a Boeing 747 flight from Tokyo to Dallas earned an unscheduled flight to Hawaii, but that was the end of the line.
When the flight crew heard the animal moving around in an overhead bin, the flight was redirected to Honolulu Airport to remove the furry stowaway, the Honolulu Star Bulletin said.
Because of concern that the squirrel could eat vital electrical wiring, the pilots followed standard procedure and notified authorities of the emergency landing.
Wildlife officials spent hours trying to trap the elusive animal once the plane landed.
I see a Geico Commericial Coming. lol

I’m amazed when I ask the kids (Ages 10-16) about famous American Christians and they don’t know who they are.  I’m curious:  Do you know who this is?
