    Here are some codes that teenagers use (or really hip adults-lol) on the internet.  Try to figure them out.
    ROFL
    POS
    P911
    KPC
    BRB
    ASL
    Do you know of other words or code letters that teen use today? Please share.

    vert.harry.ap.jpg I heard some chilling news today.  A terrorist based web site posted that they plan on capturing Prince Harry and torturing him.  How horrible would that be?
    Do you think that with Prince Harry in Iraq that it will put his fellow soldiers in jeapordy?

    The answers:

    ROFL – rolling on the floor laughing; POS parents over shoulder; P911 Parent Alert; KPC Keep parents clueless; BRB Be right back; ASL – age/sex/location

  • Hey Randy,
     ROFL = Rolling on the floor laughing
    BRB = Be right back
     But you got me stumped on the others, do you know what they mean?!

     Others:
    lol = Laughing out Loud
    btw =by the way
    pft = Sound it out. It’s like, “Riiiight!” as in sarcasim
    g2g = got to go
    ttfn = ta ta for now
    ttyl = talk to you later

     *smile*

  • LMAO, ROFLMAO, WTF, IDGAFF, KK, GTG….let me think about this a minute, I may come back to it.

    Prince Harry is a person.  He volunteered for duty.  He should be allowed to serve.  Security should be the same whether he is there or not.

  • Don’t forget…

    FU hahaha

  • I do think he puts his unit in danger.
    POS= piece of sh*t

    My kids use numbers in place of letters sometimes. It drives me nuts.

  • The thing is that I am not intrested in anything that my classmates are. I am a total outcast and a totally different person then they are…I am a misfit in the world…and it is true! TOTALLY

  • I think any person in Iraq is in terrible jeopardy unfortunatly.

    Ang

  • RYQ: Sort of… R0F7 instead of ROFL… 3 takes the place of E in words.

  • a block on the school computer that wont let me do stuff

    what does RYC mean???

  • i only know ROFL and BRB..what are the rest?  that’s a scary rumor..i hope it’s not true!

  • I don’t know what those initials mean…Tell us what they mean.

    RYC  I’m just a sinner saved by grace.. I have no plea… I try my best, but continue to fall short.. It’s good that you are filled with Him.. Can’t think of anything better!

  • roll on floor laughing, be right back, age/sex/location.. the rest I don’t know

    And Prince Harry is definitely a target, so I’m willing to bet his presence is at least slightly increasing the risk of his fellow soldiers being harmed. In saying that, he has every right to be serving.

  • RYC: regarding your comment

    that one took me a while to figure out!

    ASL—usually stands for american sign language. But age/sex/location is a good one too.

    I would imagine the prince would need more protection than oridinary civilians. He should do the
    same duties as the rest of us with no special treatment BUT he does need more protection, that
    for sure. It’s not fair to him if people are more interested in capturing him than us regular
    civilians.

  • i don’t know none of that

  • I think p911 is some sort of alert that a parent is looking over their shoulder.

  • WEll, I’ve used some of those abbreviations myself….POS is a popular one I use!!LOL. As far as I’m concerned , everybody is in danger in Iraq. My son is over there.

  • I know them all but KPC, which is the only one that hasn’t been explained!  lol  I was surprised to hear that he would be serving in Iraq, but then I suppose that it is better experience for him if he is to be a future leader.  Better training than to never have gone at all or even worse, leaving the country to avoid having to serve.  In the past, leaders typically did serve in dangerous regions.  It made them better leaders.

    RYC – “Is that like … I have swamp land to sell you?”  That was exactly what I was thinking!  I tried to work it into the title, but I just couldn’t find something I liked.

    According to this site, KPC= Keeping Parents Clueless. I’ve never seen it used before though.

  • yeah, it is [great/awesome to be a child of the Most High King of Kings]!!

  • ryc: my friend and I always said used PAL on the phone or the net (Parents Are Listening)

  • ryc: pal worked out pretty well for us hehe

    we used some other codes but I no longer recall them : /

  • Really? They are pretty interesting some of them.

  • Prince Harry’s presence will definitely put his fellow soldiers at risk. But his intentions are good, at least.

  • The p911 one cracked me up. Now I know what to look for around here!

  • The only one I know is rolling on the floor with laughter. And parent emergency for P911? Funny :)

  • i only know a few of them.

    hope you had a great day!

  • I think those are used more as cell phone text message shortcuts but then moved to IM and then just writing in general
    A number of years ago my oldest son got a cell phone when he was in high school and he would text me while in school and couldn’t call so, I learned many of those then
    the one that I tend to use most often that others don’t seem to know is jlmk = just let me know

  • So when are  you going to tell us what they mean?  I can only figure out Be Right Back and Rolling On the Floor Laughing.

  • Prince Harry is definitely going to get himself killed, it seems ineffable though his soldiers might try hard to protect him and die instead.
    I only knew ROFL, BRB, and ASL.

    I also use
    LOL, LMAO, LMFAO, H/O, WTH, and WTF.

  • Wow at answers, I’m a teen and I didn’t know those. I don’t think people use ‘parent’ terms offten, I’ve never actually seen it in works except for books that talk about it.

  • Actually I thought POS was something else…LOL…RYC: Yes we get to communicate with my son. He(son) is on Xanga …http://www.xanga.com/hookaman1975 and he emails. He also calls sometimes. His wife and kids live in TN.

  • Some of those codes are kind of annoying. I hope parents are not in the blind about what is going on in their teenagers’ lives.

    I am off to do some more painting in a little bit.

  • Yes, it’s Tagalog, the main dialect. I lived in Manila, which is the capital.. so I really just knew how to speak one dialect and it was all I ever needed to get around (plus English).

    Here’s another one: IDK.. “I don’t know”.

  • prince harry shares my birthday :) i think putting a person with such a high profile into iraq puts everyone, esp himself, in serious jeapardy! did you see i added myself onto your map :)

    rachel

  • I live the p911! that’s priceless!

  • Okay, so here’s a good laugh for you.  It took me three weeks to figure out that when someone posted on my blog “RYC” it meant – Re Your Comment – LOL!

  • I think a teener would say ROFLMAO

  • AFK – away from keyboard
    TCCIC – take care cause i care
    TTYS – talk to you soon
    MYOB – mind your own business
    BFF – best friend forever
    FYI – for your info
    NFW – no freaking way

    hahaha, this is cool. Now I know what those codes mean. Above are the only codes I know. Thank you so much for the comment.

  • Yeah I knew those….I have 2 teens….

    I can’t help but think that Prince Harry will be kept out of harm’s way…..

    Candy

  • I think I agree with most people that Prince Harry joining the soldiers will definitely RISK their lives. I’m pretty sure they would wnat to target them more.  Although I must say, he does have good intentions but I wouldn’t go if I were him.

  • I knew ROFL and BRB.

  • LMAO laughing my ass off!
