Forgiveness
My Life Be Like
There has been a lot of talk about either forgiving Don Imus or firing him.
My question is this: Can Don Imus be fired and forgiven at the same time?
Do you think Don Imus should be fired for his racial based comments?Breaking News:
– MSNBC is canceling its simulcast of Don Imus’ radio show after he made racially charged remarks about Rutgers women’s basketball team.

everyone deserve a second chance but in his case he should be suspended for 6months then if he does it again then fire!
What he did is pretty much consisered a huge sin by many these days. I have thoughts going both ways….why he should be fired and why he should be given another chance….after suspension. I just don’t care much for him…
No, he should not be fired……people should just stop LISTENING to him. If you FIRE him you make him a VICTIM.
I agree with Chet’s thinking. No one is being forced to listen to him. Hey there’s so many liberals on Xanga (mostly my friends) and I don’t even listen to them… I guess that’s why we’re still friends, hahaha. Forgiveness is important though.
Yet again….a mountain being made out of a molehill. Imus has built his career on insulting people from his jocular point of view. If “one” doesn’t like him, do what mature people do…..turn him off!

I’ve only seen snips on the news about it. Don’t know the man, don’t listen to him. Do we have the freedom of speech? Absolutely. But with that freedom comes responsibility, and if you mess up, owning up to it.
However, there is also the freedom to listen (or not), and in the case of TV, to watch or not. Responsibility comes with that as well. Don’t say something like, “I find that offensive,” and continue to listen or watch As Grace said, if you don’t like him, “turn him off!”
Should the man be forgiven? As long as there is true repentance on his part, I’d say yes. Fired? I don’t know.
RYC: I cooked all that! but instead of the jelly on toast, I made it into an egg/bacon cheese sandwich… yum!
Josiah loved it, and is off to school now.
Imus – Interesting comments. I personnally think rules must be enforced in the area of Freedom of Speech. I like what Kham said. – suspend him for 6 months.
I think he should just receive a suspension and have some rules set out for the future.. if he does it again, then he can be fired knowing he had a fair warning. But yes, I think he should be forgiven. Everyone makes mistakes occassionally, just some are on the radio and very publicized…:s
(it’s why I’m not on the radio)
He accidentally spoke his mind… a hiccup you might call it. A lot of people would be in trouble if that happened. He shouldn’t be fired for the comments per se, but because of clear demonstration of idiocy.
Randy, I am afraid I have no idea what you’re talking about – so I’ll just say “HI”!
David still lost his son with Bathsheeba, but he was forgiven.
I haven’t followed this news story. Sin has a consequence, but yes, we are forgiven.
That’s funny - a hiccup. The problem is that this wasn’t the 1st time Imus has done this. It’s a pattern and there are laws agaisnt what he did. Do we ignore the laws so we can forgive?
thanks for the comment!
I don’t know who he is.
I’d like to hear more about your room
most people think there rooms are messy. but a room tells a lot about a person. why is it messy? what’s on the floor? if there’s a table or a desk what’s on top of that? is it just clothes? or more like objects of your interests?
Don’t even know who he is. In other news…I do like you posts over the past few days, especially the B.C comic and Churchills was signing V for victory!
this probably sounds really weird but. I don’t really know who this Don is. hmmm.
RYC: yeah, i can see how the guy you’re talking about would go into panic. since in poland didn’t they have a siren to warn them if a shelling was about to start? not too sure, but there’s a book called milkweed that’s about Poland during WW2 and the ghetto.
He has always been known for his rude and insulting comments. I have seldom listened to him and have no idea why people would go out of their way to be insulted and to listen to vulgarities directed toward anyone. It seems that since he insults everyone and calls his own wife a “ho..”, I think that there are opportunists who are using this to portray themselves as “victims…again!” If they fire him, they should fire all of the rappers who say far far worse things or…people who call Condoleeza Rice and other fine people rude, insulting and racial names.
As I said, fire him and then fire all the rappers and Louis Farrakan and other who refer to Jewish people with names that I wouldn’t even mention here.
I don’t sit in judgement of anyone, therefore I don’t really have to deal with forgiveness. I don’t have a seat of authority, therefore I don’t have to deal with firing anyone…the only person I have controll over is myself and I like it that way….
What I do like is your moon phase thing.
he has to go. I dont see why he would stay. With an uproar this big, although theres no such thing as bad advertising, I really can’t see him staying where he is.
Debates entertain and inform. What else can one ask for?
No, he need not be fired – reprimanded perhaps. I think that this politically correct stuff gets taken way too far. What if the girls he was referring to were all blondes and he called them blonde-headed bimbos? Everyone would just laugh that off and we blondes would just have to be ok with that!
I think I would be outraged if my daughter was on the team and he called her a whore.
The deer and the rabbit are not my main entry. Since you have never commented on my entries, I assume you are not really interested.
Well, he could do the latest thing and enter rehab. That seems to work with celebrities, insofar as getting them off the hook. But he should definitely be forgiven. What he said is no worse than what Mayor Nagel has said about non-blacks in the very recent past, and he got re-elected for it. I don’t think we should be so quick to jump on the PC bandwagon, and frankly I don’t like any of the public figures. But if Al Sharpton gets to say who gets to keep his job and who gets to lose it, we’re all in trouble.
thnx for the concern. I’m alive. =]
I think he should be fired. if this was the first time that he said something inappropriate, then I’d probably say let it slide. but he’s acted unprofessionally before. & I saw an apology he made on the news where he used “I was drunk” as an excuse. That makes it even worse.

No one has answered my 1st question. Can Imus be fired and forgiven at the same time? My answer is yes he can.
Imus is an idiot, always has been. They’ve been running him on MSNBC… What a pioneer…. he turned TV into RADIO.
I’d say to just forgive him and not fire him. It’s not going to make a difference, many people already make racial based comments. A majority of the U.S. wouldn’t be doing so good if people went this crazy everytime someone made a racial comment. It’s just that a lot of people do make such comments anyways.
Whatever he meant, or however free his speech may need to be, if he called my daughter a “nappy-haired ho” he would be on the run right now. He didn’t hurt the girls, he just showed what a nasty, mean-spirited old man lurks under that so-called “jocularity”. His time is past.

He should have been cancelled a long time ago.
I think to keep him would be to support his opinions. If he wants to spout hateful, bigoted things, let him finance his own station and show.
Yes, he can have both forgiveness and his walking papers.
Have no clue who this dude is. I sort of miss the news a lot I kinda like it that way
Forgiveness is so overrated.
He should be forgiven, but he also has the right to express himself.
hmmm this is a grown up man insulting young women

sometimes people just cross the line with simple ignorance
I could care less what happens to him I just wish people
with some common sense and something to say finally make it
to the public arena of news and radio.
I also think as an african american woman that our young people
have fostered this kinda attention with bad music and bad language
never thinking it will come back to insult them…as for Imus…if he
cannot think before he speaks then he needs another occupation. His day
has just actually come to where he has to pay the piper…and grow up
we do not need another human on this earth fostering bigotry!!!
comparing ignorances is not a method of solving the problem. racial insults, gender insults, religious insults all need to come to an end. my god, have we nothing else to talk about then how “nappy” someone’s hair is? come on, this is 2007, our economy is going to hell , incurable disease is on the rise, children are being abused and many are going hungry and this is what we choose to put effort in to? mr. imus should have been fired when the first ignorant comment ever to cross his lips (about anyone).it juats shouldnt be tolerated. what he said was indeed offensive (at the very least). this racist bull has got to end. there are far more pressing matters that we could get solved if more time was spent towards positivity instead if negitivity.
I don’ t know Dom Imus but racial statement is naught .
Answer :Yes Churchill is admired in France . When he came in France after the war he had a triumph . He was a francophile and after the debacle in France in 1940 he wanted France continues the fight in starting from its colonial empire ( at this time) . But the Marechal Petain signed the armistice with Germans ! Churchill always has supported de Gaulle , ( who was not much appreciated by Rooosevelt ) .

You can’t go around calling people “nappy headed hos”, and be a cracker, and not expect some bad consequences…
