Aesop’s Fables
The Bear And The Travellers
wo Travellers were on the road together, when a Bear suddenly appeared on the scene. Before he observed them, one made for a tree at the side of the road, and climbed up into the branches and hid there.
The other was not so nimble as his companion; and, as he could not escape, he threw himself on the ground and pretended to be dead.
The Bear came up and sniffed all round him, but he kept perfectly still and held his breath: for they say that a bear will not touch a dead body.
The Bear took him for a corpse, and went away. When the coast was clear, the Traveller in the tree came down, and asked the other what it was the Bear had whispered to him when he put his mouth to his ear.
The other replied, “He told me never again to travel with a friend who deserts you at the first sign of danger.”Moral: Misfortune tests the sincerity of friendship.

exactly the reason to have a CCP, (conceled carry permit).
In God I trust… everyone else gets a eye kept on them…. LOL
. I am sure if the bear tried to eat the tree climbing companion, it would have left a bad taste in his mouth!!
that is a good one.
HOW TRUE!!!!! I will heed that advice! Although in SA that could mean just driving down the road in your car with a friend – LOL!!!!

I love that fable!
A true friend walks in all the others walk out…
hahahahaha So true!
That bear spoke pretty good English or human or something like that.
Great story, I liked that one!
Ain’t that the truth!
I’m quite sure Barb and I have stood the test of time and the “danger test” as well. Best friends isn’t a strong enough term for what we have. Thanks for this fable.
I have never heard this fable. What a great one.
Nice one! I always remember my childhood days from your stories. Thanks!
Keep smiling…
