  • Family Quotes

    George Moore: Family Quotes
A man travels the world over in search of what he needs, and returns home to find it.

    Albert Einstein: Family Quotes
Bear in mind that the wonderful things you learn in your schools are the work of many generations. All this is put in your hands as your inheritance in order that you may receive it, honor it, add to it, and one day faithfully hand it on to your children.

    Jim Valvano: Family Quotes
My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me.

    Lee Iacocca: Family Quotes
No matter what you've done for yourself or for humanity, if you can't look back on having given love and attention to your own family, what have you really accomplished?

    Benjamin Disraeli: Family Quotes
No success in public life can compensate for failure in the home.

    Richard Bach: Family Quotes
The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life.

There is nothing like the family.  How many people are in your family?

  • Strong Willed Children

Dr. Dobson speaks of Strong Willed Children:

    Wills are Born, Not Made
Willfulness is built into the nature of some kids. It is simply part of their emotional and intellectual package brought with them into the world. This aspect of inborn temperament is not something boys and girls learn. It is something they are.

The “blank slate” hypothesis is a myth. Children don’t start life at the same place. They bring with them an individuality that is uniquely their own, different from that of every other individual who has ever lived.
One of their innate characteristics is what I have termed “the strength of the will,” which varies from child to child.

What do we know specifically about children with particularly strong
    wills?

There are nearly three times as many strong-willed kids as those who are compliant.
Birth order has nothing to do with being strong-willed or compliant.
Most parents know they have a strong-willed child very early.
The temperaments of children tend to reflect those of their parents.
Parents of strong-willed children can expect a battle during the teen years, even if they have raised them properly.
The best news for parents of strong-willed children is the rapid
decrease in their rebelion in young adulthood. It drops almost
immediately in the early twenties and then trails off even more from
there. Some are still angry into their twenties and early thirties, but by then the fire is gone for the majority. They peacefully rejoin the human community.

(I may be slow at response today - not feeling the best)

These lost their lives by the Omaha Shooter.  The shooters suicide note said that he wanted to be a famous.  I think the news media should not post any suicide shooters pictures and take away their notoriety status.

  • Atlantis

Atlantis sits on Pad 39-A after its launch was scrubbed Thursday at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Atlantis will try to launch today.  40% chance the weather will cooperate.

Launch posponed until 2:21 pm on Sunday.

  • While anchored to a robotic arm, astronaut Scott Parazynski assesses his repair on Nov. 3 of a solar array that ripped during unfurling at the International Space Station.
    Launch scheduled for 3:31 p.m. CT.today.         Atlantis

The way I watch the launch is having the TV on & the live feed from NASA.  I feel like I'm in Mission Control that way. - lol

I was headed to the monthly district breakfast, but it's freezing rain again.  So I will stay home and be safe.

NASA UPDATE:  There are some problems with a sensor concerning Atlantis Space Shuttle.  The launch is postponed at least until tomorrow, if the problem can be resolved.

  • Dark Energy

    Dark Energy: Experience the Mystery

Our universe should be slowing down... but it's speeding up.

Energy has to come from somewhere... or can it come from nothingness?

The expansion of the universe is speeding up, powered by a force we've never encountered before and can't yet explain.

This was from NASA, the hubble telescope scientists.

In the above sentence replace God with the word nothingness and you have today's Word of the Day.

I've been appreciating everything around me a little more.  We have an Iraqi lady, volunteering at the church.  (She and her family had to flee Iraq because of the danger.) She is so amazed at America and what we have.  She was helping me make up birthday cards for the children the other day.  I printed out addresses on labels.  That really amazed her.  She's so impressed on how houses are lined up and beautiful.  -in her own words.  Everyday she speaks about her amazement.

    Here's a funny joke.

  • Invention

I was speaking to a young person a few months ago. I was telling the person about some plans we have for the church. I was goofing around and said I could take out my cell phone and project the new image on the wall. Without blinking an eye he said, "I’d like to see that." I had to tell him I was just kidding around. I told this to my younger teenage daughter and she said, "Dad they have cell phones that will work like a projector." In talking to more younger people I have found that they believe technology can do anything. Makes me wonder what the world is going to look like in 10 years.

What kind of device would you invent to make your life easier?

I would invent a true universal remote.

It would: Start my car, open my garage, change the channels on my TV, operate the stereo, answer the phone, turn on my house lights and only operate by my voice command.

    What's your favorite age group?
I love the 2-4 olds because these kids are learning things for the 1st time.  Babies come in at a close 2nd, then 5 on up in that order.

  • Crisis

You are in a crisis and you go to a friend.  You talk to that friend about your crisis and your friend tells you about their own crisis or their past crisis.

How do you feel about that?  Is is OK to do that or not?
