  • Eclipse

This combination picture shows images of the Moon, at 15-minute intervals during a lunar eclipse, taken in Great Falls, Virginia just outside Washington Feb. 20, 2008. During the eclipse, the Earth lined up directly between the Sun and the Moon, casting Earth's shadow over the Moon.

The Lunar eclipse from last night.  The clear sky made it so impressing.  The next one will be in 2010.

China lunar probe to meet moon eclipse

BEIJING, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) — China’s first lunar probing satellite, Chang’e-1, will be put to test Thursday morning when the Earth eclipses the Sun and blocks the supply of solar energy.

From about 10 a.m., the satellite will be hidden from the solar rays and lost the contact from the Earth for two and a half hours, said Ye Peijian, chief commander and designer in charge of the satellite system.

    Two Troublemakers

A couple had two little mischievous boys, ages 8 and 10. They were always getting into trouble, and their parents knew that if any mischief occurred in their town, their sons would get the blame.

The boys’ mother heard that a clergyman in town had been successful in disciplining children, so she asked if he would speak with her boys. The clergyman agreed and asked to see them individually.

So, the mother sent her 8-year-old first, in the morning, with the older boy to see the clergyman in the afternoon.

The clergyman, a huge man with a booming voice, sat the younger boy down and asked him sternly, “Where is God?”

The boy’s mouth dropped open, but he made no response, sitting there with his mouth hanging open.

The clergyman repeated the question. “Where is God?”

Again, the boy made no attempt to answer.

So, the clergyman raised his voice some more and shook his finger in the boy’s face and bellowed, “Where is God!?”

The boy screamed and bolted from the room. He ran directly home and dove into his closet, slamming the door behind him.

When his older brother found him in the closet, he asked, “What happened?”

The younger brother, gasping for breath, replied: “We are in real BIG trouble this time! God is missing, and they think we did it!”

  • I missed it here. Got engrossed in family stuff and forgot all about it. Shucks… I had really planned to go out and look for the missing moon. Thanks for posting the pictures

  • i was watching the lunar eclipse too. very nice but way too cold to stay outside and watch.

  • I tried to see the eclipse last night, but the sky here was like soup!  But I guess I don’t have to wait too terribly long for a chance to see the next one!

  • @oceanstarr -  I couldn’t stay out too long myself.  -bitter cold.

  • @Still_groovy - There were some clouds in the sky here, but none restricted the moons view.

  • @babydot74 - It was cold, so not much watching the eclispe here also.

  • Too cloudy here last night, thanks for the pics….Funny story about your 13 year old new driver and the backseat driver…hehehe.

    Blessings,

    Mike

  • @AuntieKathy - the pictures actually came from a China news web site.

  • Well here it appeared at about 5AM but I got up to have a look…. didn’t think a photo would take without a telephoto lens but was glad I saw it anyway…. the sky was beautifully clear all night and the moon was very bright….

  • I SAW IT!! It was actually right outside my bedroom window. So, I didnt have to go out in the cold to look at it either ;)

  • it was a bit cloudy here but we got a pretty good view ;)

  • *laughs* A happy baby??? Ive yet to hear her being QUIET!!! lol…ok so its NOT that bad, but she takes her grumpy notions and just drives me nuts at times. All babies are that way though. atleast shes not colicy like my other daughter was. Arianna is smiling WAY before any of my other girls did, and cooing, its been so awesome. even at 4am when she wants to hold an hour long conversation with her musical seahorse.

  • Aside from the chill I poked out several times to see the different phases of it.  Spectacular!  I’m so glad the skies opened up for this!

  • RYC: I like rock-ey music, but i CAN NOT handle flyleaf LOL…Im not sure what it is, it just becomes overwelming!! I have a bad habit of listening to 80s rock also. Honestly, I love music in general. So I love the music player deal ;)

hope you’re doing fine on this friday afternoon.

  • There is still a lot of rioting and looting in Kenya – it’s not looking good. Please keep praying for the situation there!

  • aaw, I totally missed it because it was waay too cloudy here. Really a shame!

    ryc: Thank you!

  • That’s such a cute joke!

I was up around 2:30 am last night because my throat hurt, but I didn’t stay up to see the eclipse.  I saw the one some months back, though.  Pretty cool.

  • No eclipse for this area.  Cloudy and rainy.

    California is a joke.

  • That’s funny, you never know what you’ll find when you google something.

  • Cute story. Couldn’t see the eclipse here in Houston, w/clouds and rain.

Yeah, Calif. needs to ease up. Maybe they should have a ban on bans for a while :D

  • I missed the the Lunar eclipse from last night.

RYC: Thanks for your comment of Abundant health –
    It does sounds so good!

  • To go along with your California fruits and nuts…we had alternating haze and clear skies, due to our rain storms. But we did get to see it! And I fully admit, my home state is nuts.

  • sounds like they need a ban on banning things…

  • Wow… I heard they’re banning breathing next…

But yeah, Hershey, Pennsylvania, where the Hershey’s Chocolate Factory is.  Fun stuff.

  • Glad you liked the spring time verses!!
