  • Foster Child – Ryan

We’ve had many foster children in our home over the past decade.  One particular foster child was a Native American named Ryan.  He changed us.    We almost didn’t have him come in our home because we were in crisis.  Our oldest daughter was hospitalised in Guadamala on a missions trip.

Here is a poem I wrote after Ryan left us.

    Quiet and full of love
    A gift from the Son

You came to us during our spiritual night
You came to us and gave us new sight

We’ll miss you very much, Ryan
Dry eyes we’ll not having in our crying

We’ll pray you stay within the Father’s touch
For we love you very much

    The message you must give
    So your people may live

The cross you wore with gladness
Memories of which will bring us sadness

Until we see you another day
As we follow the Father’s way

I hang this poem with his picture on our wall.
