Foster Child – Ryan
We’ve had many foster children in our home over the past decade. One particular foster child was a Native American named Ryan. He changed us. We almost didn’t have him come in our home because we were in crisis. Our oldest daughter was hospitalised in Guadamala on a missions trip.
Here is a poem I wrote after Ryan left us.
Quiet and full of love
A gift from the SonYou came to us during our spiritual night
You came to us and gave us new sightWe’ll miss you very much, Ryan
Dry eyes we’ll not having in our cryingWe’ll pray you stay within the Father’s touch
For we love you very muchThe message you must give
So your people may live
The cross you wore with gladness
Memories of which will bring us sadnessUntil we see you another day
As we follow the Father’s wayI hang this poem with his picture on our wall.

That’s a beautiful poem. I can feel the love.
so you’ll gave him a cross to wear? that is nice and hope you get to see him again someday.
I saw all the orphan kids in china from the hurricaine on the news.
I mean earthquake
@FreeeVerse - Thanks – He meant a lot to us. Ryan was a wonderful child – 2nd grader.
@jillcarmel - Ryan won the cross during Kid’s Church. I sure do hope we can see him again. He’d be close to being a teenager now.
Red River of the North is the first series of 6 books by L. Snelling. The first books start out with the native Norweigins leaving their country and coming to the Dakotas to be some of the first settlers there.

Thanks for sharing this poem.
That is special! Taking in a child, sharing God’s love, . . . then years pass, and one wonders what about now? How are they? It is good to know that they have a God who loves them even more than we can. I am sure that God has blessed you and your wife many times over as you have had this ministry of love and service to God and His little ones. ~ Blessings… Carolyn
