  • Obama Express

I enjoy watching the Inauguration proccess.    Although I didn’t vote for Obama, I support him in prayer now.  It makes me proud to be an American that an exchange of power can happen peacefully and with such celebration.  President Obama is my president and I will honor him as such.

bush.jpg I will miss President Bush.  He made difficult decisions in some of America’s darkest times.  He wasn’t on a popularity contest as the ratings showed.  I believe history will put his administration in a much different light than what is seen now.

  • Great post and I agree, except isn’t it sickening that the Inauguration costs $150 million while we’re allegedly in the worst economy since the Depression? A little more MODERATION would be in order, frankly. He likes to evoke the image of LINCOLN, but I can’t imagine Abe doing this….

  • I enjoy watching the Inauguration proccess too.
    It’s historic.

I didn’t vote for President Elect Obama nor Senator McCain.
Whoever be came President is my President.
President Barack Obama is our President.

  • I am praying too.
President Obama will need our prayer.

  • Oh I agree that this Inauguration could have been a little more subdued due to the economy… As for him invoking Lincoln, this has me worried… Lincoln may have been a great President, but he didn’t leave office the way he would have liked!

I think Bush is the consummate gentleman. He has made this transfer of power quite seamless, even asking congress for the $$$ so it would be there for Obama to hit the ground running. A far cry from how the previous administration left things for him… and why doesn’t the media praise him for this?

  • yes, he will need all of us to rally around and support him to do the best for our country

  • @beadbrat - I know what you mean. President-To-Be Obama is extremely unwise to keep evoking the images and analogies between himself Lincoln, JFK, MLK and RFK. We DO need to pray for him because he is “NATURALLY” a target for some kook to attempt to assassinate him. On top of that, he keeps likening himself to 4 who have BEEN assassinated, in a very, very unwise manner.

As for President Bush, the mainstream media will never give him any credit until MAYBE after the terrorists hit us again (as Vice President-To-Be Biden GUARANTEED would happen soon after he and Obama take office.) Maybe THEN the media will appreciate how President Bush kept us safe after 9-11!!!

  • Good post, we sure need to be praying for whoever the President is….thanks for sharing how you came up with your xanga name….blessings to you….Mike

  • @clintspirations - I quess I don’t have a problem with the cost of the inaugration.  We have to get the message to the world that we celebrate peaceful transition in power.  I just believe there are things we just can’t cut.

  • @beadbrat - History will be kind to President Bush unlike the news media of today.  I’m glad President Obama is bringing the memories of Lincoln to the forefront.  It shows how far America has come.  (Lincoln was Republican)

  • @Randy7777 - My problem isn’t with the ridiculous cost of the Inauguration PER SE….it’s with the cost AND the fact that he has been, and will be, preaching to us about how bad the economy is and how we need to scale back OUR lifestyles. He presents himself as an answer to our financial woes but, as a leader, does not seem to be practicing what he’s preaching. I certainly DO understand the need for unprecedented SECURITY at this Inauguration, but it would be nice if he’d stop ADDING to the security issues by comparing himself to Lincoln and the others I mentioned.

If a rookie baseball player came to my New York Yankees and acted like he had some mystical tie to the great Babe Ruth this year, he’d certainly receive death threats from rabid fans…..kooks who the rookie needlessly provoked by that unwise comparison. President-To-Be Obama is doing that by nurturing that comparison to the great LINCOLN (and, I suspect, as of tm’w, he’ll be comparing himself to DR. KING, as well.) This Inauguration might not need as much security / expense if he’d have a little moderation with these ANALOGIES of his!!!!
