Dating
In my job I work with kids. I’m finding that the kids are dating at a much younger age. I’ve talked to 4th graders who tell me they’re dating. When I tell them they shouldn’t be doing that, they tell me, “My Mom says it’s OK”.
What age should kids be allowed to date?

I really don’t like the concept of dating at all.
We are bringing our kids up along the line of I kissed dating goodbye.
When you think you are ready for marriage, then think about dating.
Until then enjoy God, enjoy life enjoy his people. Have friends enjoy relationships and ask God’s wisdom.
I find the concept of 4th graders dating shocking. While I am sure most parents think it is a bit of harmless fun, when you watch the news here in the UK and see 13 yr old ‘potentially’ fathering a child (in the sense it MAY be his child- but either way he still had sex) I think some parents should be a little more concerned where this harmless ‘fun’ may lead.
When a child starts to date at an early age, what is left to experience at 15, 16 or 17? Forbidden passions. Children are not mature enough to handle adult matters at 18 and 19. But I must be “old-fashioned”. I believe children should learn respect and work ethics and matters of God first.
My kids are never dating. Not even when theyre 30.
Just ask their dad.
I didn’t start dating until 15 and in some ways I still wasn’t mature enough. I know some people think it’s harmless, but I remember being in grade 5 and some of the kids started dating. There was too much pressure to kiss and stuff, and 10 year olds shouldn’t be getting into that yet. There are a lot of precocious kids that will argue with me on that though.
@ashleynmofford - Funny – I’ve told my kids that so many times. I even told them I believe that parents should be the ones who pick their mates. -didn’t go over so good. lol
My sister did not start dating until she started university when she met her current boyfriend, she was 19 on her first date. I have never dated anyone in my life I am 25.
by the way…what do these 4th graders view as “Dating”???
I cant imagine a 4th grade date, apples, juice boxes, and the park?? seriously.
And theyll get to the park in the POWER WHEELS BARBIE JEEP!?
Sense of humor? Im glad you were amused. I was serious…I have my own opinion of a date, and, none of which match up with ANYTHING that a 4th grader could do
LOL!
I think the good time for kids to start dating when they have a job and their own car, then again times are different so I would probably say job, car, and high school diploma.
RYC: Oh my favorite thing is mixing wasabi with kewpie (Japanese Mayo). The spread it into my sandwich… So Good!
Thank you so much for subbing and coming by! : )
Dating? Modern dating is so dangerous…yikes. Our rule in our home concerning courtship is staying above reproach. : )
We have four daughters, ages 15 to 26…There never has been much dating at all in our home, all our girls are saving their first kiss for the altar, and have also been encouraged by “I Kissed Dating Goodbye” by Josh Harris.
Our 26 year old has just met a nice young man, he too is saving his first kiss for the altar, most of their time especially in the evening and night are in our home with our entire family, watching 40s movies and dinner with us. Sometimes they go for coffee during the day, or out for errands for the church he works for. Any type of anything that would resemble a date is considered a privilige and we like them to go to point A to point B. If a young man or young lady has a Godly heart they won’t mind a bit! : ) Groups are a great way to go too for young people!
Last night my husband and I went for a double date with our daughter and the young man! It was fun too getting to know each other even better. : )
It looks like you have some nice entries here that glorify the Lord, so nice to meet you! Looking forward to your future entries, great food for thought!
Blessings!
