  • Liberialism

The downfall of a nation:  “Everyone did what was right in their own eyes.”

Sotomayor admits that she applies her feelings and personal politics when deciding cases. In a 2001 speech at Berkeley, she said she believes it is appropriate for judges to consider their “experiences as women and people of color,” which she believes should “affect our decisions.” She went on to say in that same speech: “I would hope that a wise Latino woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”

1st – The above is racial.
2nd – If she gets appointed as a Supreme Court Justice the constitution is in jeopardy.

  • we the last two white men? I’m sure that if he didn’t get her he would have chosen a woman or a minority and this way she only has one vote.

Aren’t we all products of our upbringing? we can’t vote on things without our experiences in life making an effect on us.

  • A judge needs not to rule by emotions, but to rule by the constitution.  That is why who we pick is so crucial.  To put her in that position just because she is a woman or just because she is of color is just as wrong as putting her in because she is male or white.  The definition of racism depends on who says it, I guess.

  • Amen.  Emotions can’t be part of a judges’ ruling despite how much they are a part of us. Man, our country needs some serious praying…for it.

  • I sure hope she has learned much since 2001.

  • @Jillycarmel - A judge should vote according to the constitution, not by her experiences.  It’s the same with Christians, we shouldn’t live by how we were raised but by the Word of God.

  • @Kowpatty - So true – It appears the liberals don’t want to follow the constitution.

  • @Randy7777 - I think it would be just as hard for a christian judge to vote according to just th econstitiution also. If you get my drift. All my experiences make me who I am and I would find it hard to vote by just the law, too.

  • Will be interesting to see how she does.
