  • Shaking

I was reading a facebook entry of a few people in New Zealand who had a major earthquake a few months ago.  The person I was chatting with said that another quake hit just a short time before.  She said there was a rumbling sound just before the shaking began.  She also told me that the quake woke her and her husband up the night before.  I’ve only experience a small earth quake and it was scarry.  I was amazed at her description and the affect it had on people.

Have you ever been in an earthquake?  What was your experience?  Hurricane?  or simular?

  • I’ve experienced a hail storm because of a tornado nearby. The tornado was less than a classified F1, so it wasn’t a lot of damage.

  • Yes, we have had a few very small quakes in our area.  One just occured a couple of months ago.  Also have been through a major   hurricane in Raleigh, NC a few years ago while taking care of grand kids.  That was really wild..no electricity for several days.  A tornado touched down when we lived in Fort Worth…that was scarey too.  Last year we had a tsunami while in Maui.  Had to evacuate to higher ground but the tsunami didn’t really materialize.  Living in the north east we have had many blizzards and ice storms.  We have been very blessed that none of these events have caused us much damage or injury!

  • It’s been rocking and rolling on either side of me the last few weeks.  Last Monday, a collector plate fell off the desk.  We thought it was for various reasons until we heard of the earthquake in Central Arkansas.  It happened at the very time that plate crashed.  While on Okinawa, I experienced several typhoons.  The power has a form of beauty in them.   And, of course, the super cells and tornadoes that happen in this area every spring.  Crazy beauty in such power.

  • @dingdongdingbat - Major hurricane – that must of been an experience.

  • @Kowpatty - Really? A lot of shaking in Arkansas – I heard about the earthquake in Normal, OK.

  • I don’t remember it specifically, but I learned later as an adult that the Ohio town where I lived as a very young child may have experienced a small earthquake. I think it would have been at a time before I entered 1st grade. So far, the closest I have come to a tornado was when one hit just north of the apartment complex where I lived years ago in Dallas. It was a bit frightening. I think it may have been in the spring of 1969. Every year, however, tornadoes plague north Texas; and this spring, they hopped all around where I live now. Recently, we learned about the earthquake in neighboring state of Oklahoma. I don’t remember the year, but it was not long ago that a fairly small earthquake was reported to have occurred in this area

    ~~Blessings ‘n Cheers

  • @DonnaLou - The tornado came really close to you. You probally sighed a big breath of relief.
