  • Elizabeth Smart

I’m amazed at this young lady.  Her parents instructed her in how to get through a really ugly situation.
    1.  Her Dad instructed her that she needed a “voice”.  Elizabeth didn’t know how to respond when people asked her, “What happened?”  Also while they were in church a lady cornered Elizabeth in a bathroom and made mean comments to her, accusing her of being the one in the wrong.  Elizabeth developed a “voice” to evil.
    2.  Her parents instructed her not to relive the past and to inform others that she was not going to relive it.
    3.  She forgave and let it go.

  • She is an amazing young women full of grace.  I pray that her nightmare is finally over.

  • @Kowpatty - Yes she is.  Have a great Sunday.

  • I’m glad that Elizabeth’s Dad didn’t try to protect her by “taking care of the situation”.  As parents we want so much to protect our children. -We can’t.  He taught her.  It really challenges me to teach our children how to have a voice when “bullying” comes.  That lady that did that to Elizabeth in the church bathroom was a bully.

  • It is sad that a woman in church confronted Elizabeth and accused her of being in the wrong! Exactly the antithesis of how a Christian should respond. I am glad to learn that her father counseled her well, that she is courageous, and that she developed a “voice”. I, too, pray that her nightmare would be over.

  • She has continued to amaze me as well.  She has handled such evil and ugliness with grace, dignity and courage.  I know her parents are so proud of her.  She is a lovely young lady, inside and out.

  • @stephensmustang - I hope she writes a book.  It could help so many people in escaping the horrors of their past.
