The Crossing by Gilbert Morris
This book took me into the south during the Civil War. I shed tears as the battle raged against friends and family. As usual with any Gilber Morris book, I grew to know a famous person. Stonewall Jackson, a colorful, tactful Southern General. Yancy a personal attendant, shows the human side to this strong military leader. I felt I was in the Civil War. I felt like bullets and canons sounded next to me. This was a great book that moved me emotionally.

When we were stationed in Maryland, I got to tour the Manassas Battleground where Stonewall Jackson got his name. It was one of the most surreal experiences of my life.
It’s called the War of Northern Aggression. The South wasn’t trying to take over Washington DC and replace the damn Yanks government, so it wasn’t a “Civil War.”
@Kowpatty - Really? I would love to have visited that place. Gettysburg is still so fresh on my mind, even though it’s been many years since we’ve been there. I wonder if Stonewall hadn’t been killed just how long the civil war would of lasted or if it would of turned out much differently.
@Frankenchrist - Wonderfully said by a Southern Sympathiser.
@Frankenchrist - Hey you should update your xanga blog. I see you are an equal opportunity insulter and that is said in a nice way. Merry Christmas to you.
