  • Vacation

My favorite vacation was our trip to Niagara Falls.  It was awe inspiring to see the rushing water.  I could just stand for hours and watch it.  I took a picture that day and it now is on our wall as a reminder of the power of nature.

What is your favorite vacation memory?

  • I think my favorite vacation was visiting the Grand Canyon. It is the biggest thing I’ve ever seen. I’ve always wanted to visit Niagara Falls. Maybe I will one day.
I like the word of the day!

  • We haven’t been fortunate enough to stray too much but I always enjoy any time we have together as a family away from the stress and hurry of the ‘normal routine”.

  • Mine was during my 15 day holiday in Hongkong and Macau with my ex-bf now. Everytime I recall those sweet memories, it makes me smile and still miss my ex so much although it’s been a year and a month now since we had that great vacation together!

    Happy New Year!

  • @Chemalexandru - That sounds like great memories.  A place is only a place unless shared with someone special.  I was in Hong Kong once and I enjoyed it. I remember the great restaurant tours.

  • Great word of the day!
I like when we took the kids camping and to the lakes. It was fun to hike, fish, etc.
I’ve never been to the northeast…but might get to soon…one of my kids just moved there.
    HUGS!

    @C_L_O_G -

You saw The Big Ditch, so you should definitely see The Big Shower!

  • @adamswomanlost -

The big shower is on the bucket list. lol

  • So many wonderful places that it is hard to pick a favorite, but I think Hawaii is the closest place to paradise.  I’m always in awe at Niagara Falls but it is close by so we tend to take it for granted..

  • @adamswomanlost - That sounds like a great vacation time.  I love to get out and hike.  Where in the northeast did your son move to?

  • @dingdongdingbat - I’d go for Hawaii about right now with all snow here.

  • These are so many for me, i just don’t have one but many, the trips down to the coast, camping at the lake and trips up to San Marcos. There are just so much to fill me with happiness I can never let them go.

  • @looking_inside_me - I googled San Marcos.  Looks like a lot of great things to do there.  I saw one attraction was a glass bottom boat.  Do you ever go on that?

  • @C_L_O_G - I visited the Grand Canyon once and that was a long time ago.  I’d sure like to visit it again.

  • @stephensmustang - Yes, getting away from the “normal” – I like that also.  It’s rare that me and Kim can get away, but when we do it’s so great.

  • @Randy7777 -

It is impressive. I hope you get to visit it again.

  • My favorite memory was from this past summer, driving to California from Minnesota with my husband and kids to visit my parents and siblings. The trip involved a lot of driving, but was very fun and seeing my family after 5 years was the best. Definitely tops my list of memorable vacations!

  • @Randy7777 - I think that’s the key–when we’re away with those we love (esp if it’s a cool, trip with our spouses) it makes no difference where we go…it’s still enjoyable and joyful.

  • @Randy7777 -

The glass bottom boat is at Wonderworld. Its down the street from my mother-in-law. All my wifes family is from there. Currently we live in San Antonio. San Marcos is basically a college town. Its the home of Texas State used to be names SW Texas, (they wanted to clean up there act).

  • @PaintingFl0wers - We made that trip also this past summer (from South Dakota).  You’re right – it is a long trip.  I love traveling through the mountains.

  • @looking_inside_me - Wonderworld sounds like a great vacation spot.

  • Several vacations are memorable, but the one that most comes to mind is the sailing vacation in the Virgin Islands near the end of one summer. It was fun to snorkle in the water unless one got too close to a jellyfish as they sting. Unfortunately, one collided with the face of one of the friends from church we took with us. Her face stung for awhile, but didn’t dampen her enjoyment. The final day of sailing was a bit scary, as the tropical depression associated with one of the hurricanes (I forget which one) was upon us, and we had to sail through the pouring down rain back to port. Visibility during the downpour was horrible. It was a real adventure for us, our children and our married friends from church.  ~~Blessings, Prayers, ‘n Cheers

  • My favorite was our trip to Italy, and Amsterdam. That was my first trip to Europe.

  • @icapillas - That sounds like a great vacation.
