If I were to name one trait I look for in people it is faithfulness.

honesty… and consistency…
Mine would have to be honesty as well. If I can not trust them then I can not be-friend them.
I’d say compassionate.
I’ve been forgiven a lot (by God) so I forgive easily.
I think if a person is compassionate they tend to be many more good things, too.

Honesty, but with empathy/compassion. Willing to listen. I do not get along well with “bossy” persons. I agree with previous comments. For what I look for in a friend, however, I need to be the same. ~~Peace, Joy, Prayers & Cheers
Honesty, being genuine
I usually look for things in common with me. I also look for friends who tend to put me on a pedastal at times and make me feel great, but it definitely has to be sincere, my friends are no bunch of asskissers but i do need to be appreciated from time to time. If i got that you can pretty much drag me through the mud after you have my loyalty. I actually have put up with a lot of crap from friends i really cared about and don’t even really know why, we were still close and they were loyal but sometimes there is too much drama. something else i think i subconsciously require~LOL

@too_restless - I’m glad there were people like you when I was a teenager. I treated people bad because I didn’t like myself but I had a few friends that stayed with me and believed in me no matter what.
@Randy7777 - that’s awesome. my best friend is rough around the edges and when i first met her i thought to myself that she needs a friend so right then and there i decided to be her friend. when i got to know her better i realized her exterior is tough but inside she is very sensitive and caring. she’s an awesome person even though she doesn’t really know how to always be a good friend still lots of love for her.
