  • Adventures for Flat Stanley

    Flat Stanley
I received a Flat Stanley in the mail from a kid that moved away several months ago.  His class is doing a Flat Stanley assignment.  I have to take pictures of Flat Stanley doing different things. It embarrassed my wife when Flat Stanley went to the restaurant with us.  -lol

    Here’s my Question:

What adventure should I put Flat Stanley through?

I don’t have a myraid of things to do today.

  • That is super cute. I’m hoping my nephew will do one. Since this my first time commenting on your blog and have no clue about you I would suggest something that makes your town unique like building or weird statue. Or whats the weather doing?! I mean it just snowed after being in the 50s… I would build a snowman or a flat stanley snowman :)

  • I didn’t know anything about “Flat Stanley”, so I couldn’t think of anything at first. theunknowndarkness1 had a good idea. You could do something related to the snow or something involving a community service project. ~~Blessings, Prayers ‘n Cheers

  • @theunknowndarkness1 - Thanks -  Most of the snow is melting here but we did do a Flat Stanley and the snow.

  • @DonnaLou - Thanks – Have a great night.

  • Now I think Flat Stanley should go surfing in the kitchen sink or riding a rubber duck in the bath tub.

  • Possibly likes hot air balloons? Thanks for your comments

  • I just researched “Flat Stanley” in the Wikipedia. I’m surprised that I hadn’t heard of the book (I had loads of children’s books I read in college for my “kiddie-lit” class, and wasn’t familiar with the story or the concept. What an extremely cool idea! Hmmm… did a little research on your area, and you could take Stanley to the Human Services Center since that is so historic, or perhaps at some place showing that Yankton was the original capital of the Dakota Territory, or with the historic newspaper the Yankton Press and Dakotan, or also historic South Dakota Magazine, or with a picture of one of your famous residents (or former?) such as Tom Brokaw. OK, I’m going to bed. Have a great Wednesday!

  • A new one for me, too!  I like the idea very much so I am going to find the book and share it with my grandchildren.

  • @tymedancer - Now that’s a good idea

  • @ThexGodfather - Actually I had a hand drawn hot air balloon on the Kid’s Church wall and yes Flat Stanley went there.

  • @JusticeMom - Thanks for the research.  Yankton has a lot of history. Actually yankton means “end of the road” in the native american language.  Tom has been in a few River Boat Days parades.  He was here in town several weeks back.

  • @Dominie - It’s a fun project.  I love it.  The boy is a native american that is the biological brother to my adopted daughter.

  • Take a photo of the Flat one on Xanga….

  • Horseback riding? Or dog riding . . haha

being seatbelted in the car .. .

sitting at the dinner table . . .

  • @vexations - Oh now that’s a good idea

  • @bethro78 - I like those – never thought of the dinner table.

  • What a cute idea!

  • Awww that is so sweet.

  • He can go guitar-diving.

  • Oh, that minx Clara Dion… she’s two-timing you, you know that, right?

  • I’ll be receiving a Flat Stanley from a friend in a couple of weeks. He’s going to go to the race track with my motorcycle and me. I’m pretty sure he’ll get to do a few laps around the track too.
