  • Enviromental

The Missouri is flooding.   Former Governoner Rounds said the Corp messed by not releasing more water sooner.  Another theory is because there was an attempt on the Corp of Engineers to protect bird habitats. Before the dams were built the Missouri roared uncontrollable and took out everything in it’s path.  The people of Yankton felt safe and secure because of the dam.  Because of that security, people built houses near the river.

What is your thoughts on eviromental and human needs?

  • people is moreenporter thend wild life

  • Seems the more we interfere with nature the worse we make things.

  • People are more important than animals. Animals don’t have souls.

  • I dunno… your state’s population is less than most our smaller cities here so it’s hard to say what’s best for our environmental needs here.

Our basic human needs, clean water, is a failed project due to so many buildings being built before 1978, or 1960s that our pipes could be anything from oxidized galvanized piping, poorly soldered copper pipes, plastic pipes full of bbp, and lead moldings here and there.

I like how our media tells us it’s safe to drink tap water, but those same people are drinking bottled water.
/shrug. Needs differ from county to county, city to city, state to state.

At least we know we’re the only country in the world where poor people are fat and the rich are anorexic.

  • Change is the constant when it comes to life so perhaps it’d be best if we try our best to adjust ourselves accordingly. What do you think?

  • @C_L_O_G - that’s the truth

  • @rocketopossum - Sometimes I wonder if those in charge believe that.

  • @BenelliMan - You have a different outlook on America

  • @nov_way - I’m not sure of your point?

  • I don’t know what to say except when you build, and live, near a river, you better be ready for the big flood. We live less than 6 feet from the river bank in a large apt. complex that lines the river banks.
If I were a sound I would be a chuckle because I love life and laughter.
    type of wild life-raccoon

  • @rocketopossum - Animals do have souls and are highly intelligent.

  • @Randy7777 -  Thanks! I take that as a compliment :D Why be part of the “norm” when there’s no such thing as cultural norm? I’ve taken way too many Sociology classes.

  • Rather a difficult situation they are in right now. Living in a “flood plain” has consequences. I think at this point they are trying to pick the lesser disaster.

  • As a sound I would be laughter…at least my hubby says I laugh a lot.
    Wildlife- deer

  • If I was a sound, I would be the sounds of outer space!!! :]

  • I heard that apart of our city is in the flood zone when the water is released. They say it will be worst than ”The Great Flood” of 1993. I hope not. People across the river in Elwood, KS are ask to leave. They have 30 days….

    If I was a sound I would be a pleasing sound….
