  • Camp

I'm headed to Camp today. I'm bringing three 7 year olds to the Black Hills. We'll be there 2 nights and 3 days. It'll be fun.   Camp Kindship

We went out to see the dam and watched the powerful water release. It's up to 140,000 cfs. Niagra Falls has a water flow of 110,000 cfs. There are so many people out there from all over. It's fun watching the water and talking to people. I listened to a lady tell me that she was at the dam when it first opened.

    Psalms 23:5

    Word of the Day: loquacious
I'm hoping I don't have loquacious kids as we drive to camp today.

We've rented a cabin in mid July that is near the dam.  The road to the camp ground has a couple feet left before the water goes over it.  We're hoping that road doesn't flood.

  • Birthday

Today is my birthday and I decided to take the day off. I worked on my birthday last year and didn't like it.  My family celebrated my birthday last night.  It was when everyone could get together.  It was a fun time.  I and Kim were able to stay over night in Sioux Falls last week.  I have enjoyed my birthday this year.

Family Feud Question: What are different ways to celebrate a birthday?

    Psalms: 23:4
    Word of the day: badinage
I like badinage, especially when I'm not in a serious mood.

  • Joking

I love watching Family Feud.  Steve Harvey loves to make fun of people.  It is funny and it's all in fun.

Do you laugh along with a person when that person makes fun of you?

  • Happy

We had a discussion the other morning about if it was good to be totally positive and happy all the time.  Some of the questions that came out of the discussion was:
Does being totally positive and happy all the time push people away that are going through hard times?
Is it even realistic to be like that all the time?
When death or tragedy comes into your life, is it healthy to make yourself appear to be happy?

    What are your thoughts?

    Psalms 23:2-3

    Family  :Alisha

    Word of the Day: sanguine
I try to stay in a sanguine personality but I can't maintain it all the time.

Family Feud Question:  What is a summer family activity?

  • 2:00 am

I got a call this morning at 2:00 am.  It was a Native American guy that I've been reaching out to.  He calls me once in awhile to let me know how he's doing.  Well this call was to tell me he was in trouble.  He was being arrested outside a downtown bar.  He needed me to come and park his car parallel with the street, verse diagonal like he had it.  Well I did.  The police had me stand aside as they patted him down and put him in the police car. Then I had to wait another 20 minutes while they searched his car.  I stood on the side walk hoping no one would see me and wonder what I was doing there. -oh the rumors.  I had a lot of time to think and here are some thoughts:  I thought it was sad that he didn't have friends to call on.  Where was his little baby?  I'll probably get another call this morning asking me to sign him out of jail.  How can people get themselves in trouble like this. (I put myself in his shoes as I stood there and absolutely didn't like it.) I wondered how one of the Officers knew me and where I lived.  And then I thought of xanga.
So I have two questions today:

Would you get up at 2:00 am if asked?

Do you care what people think of you?

If you were in my shoes what are some thoughts you would have?

    Psalms 23:1
    Family: Alisha
    Word of the Day: Cloud-cuckoo-land
I entered into cloud-cuckoo-land last night outside cockatil.

Family Feud Question: What are some sounds of the night?

  • Best at?

It's easy to find things that you're no good at.  When Moses was told to speak before Pharaoh he pointed out his weakness when in fact he was powerful in speech.  I'm good at keeping records, whether is be financial or other. I just love it.  I manage 5 different checking accounts for people.  These are people with fixed incomes.  Everyone of those accounts now have money in savings.

    What are you good at?

  • Enviromental

The Missouri is flooding.   Former Governoner Rounds said the Corp messed by not releasing more water sooner.  Another theory is because there was an attempt on the Corp of Engineers to protect bird habitats. Before the dams were built the Missouri roared uncontrollable and took out everything in it's path.  The people of Yankton felt safe and secure because of the dam.  Because of that security, people built houses near the river.

What is your thoughts on eviromental and human needs?

    Finish:  If I was a sound I would be a _________________ Why?

Family Feud Question: Name of type of wildlife.

  •
We had Kalli's birthday party tody.  She turned 7.  She wanted a fishing pole.

My son forgot and left the keys in the van overnight. It wasn't a huge deal because it's rare that anyone steals anything.  A few years ago I wanted to get rid of a computer that was trashed. I had to leave it in my van that I parked on the street for nearly 2 months before someone actually stole it.

How is the crime rate where you live?

  • Waving

We've lived in different parts of the USA.  Washington State, California, Mississippi and South Carolina.  It's so interesting that when we've driven back and reentered Nebraska/South Dakota I see something that I didn't see anywhere else.  People waving to each other in vehicles.  The Yankton Police are very good at waving to passing vehicles.  People around here constantly wave while driving.

Do you wave at passing vehicles?  Do people wave back?

Flood Update:  I went to a Flood Informational Meeting.  Many houses in Yankton are expected to flood.  The Jim river is expected to back up and also Marnes Creek.  We did get good news and the creek is not expected to flood.  Hopefully that is right.  We have a house right by Marnes Creek.  Dakota Dunes, just about an hour from here is expected to flood completely.  There is a lot of sandbagging going on.

  • Dirty Look

We were driving on a back road last night. We hadn't been there for awhile and just wanted to see something different.  A lady was walking along the road and gave us that, "if looks could kill" look or what I call a "dirty look".  It happened to me at Wallmart last week.  A lady was walking in front of my vehicle and she gave me that glaring, hateful look. (Could of been because I allowed my van to roll instead of coming to a complete stop.).  When I think about it I can't remember a guy ever giving me those killer looks. I only see them coming from females. (I can be corrected if you think I'm wrong on this assumption.)

Do you give glaring looks to people?  Are you doing it right now? -lol

    Psalms 22:29-31
    Family
Family Feud Question:  Name a popular color
    Word of the Day: impugn
To impugn a person, is to hurt them.

Flood Update:  I went to a Yankton Flood meeting.  It looks like many houses are going to be flooded out.  Not only from the river but also from ground water.  Apparently the water table is rising.  Many people are donating furniture to our furniture bank.  It's full now.  So we're going to put donated furniture in another building.  I'm sure after the water draws back people will need furniture.
