I’m headed to distribute bread and pastry items that we get from Wall Mart. It’s always a fun time.
What do you volunteer at?

First where do you volunteer? I volunteer at the hospital gift shop but often I am the best customer of the day!
That’s a nice thing to do. God bless.
I have volunteered and continue to volunteer at various places……the library book sale, youth ministry at church, the community food bank, community ESL program, gone on multiple mission trips, etc. I am a firm believer in volunteering.
Does living in the “Volunteer” state count?
I read the Bible for the Franciscan sisters who work at the town hospital. When I was a teacher I volunteered countless hours to training student athletes and spend thousands and thousands of dollars of my own developing revolutionary education techniques using computer networks.
I volunteer in my own shul, and I volunteer with gay youth–many of them finding a home with us. We, as a family, volunteer at my kids’ school.

@Randy7777 - It’s such a small thing to me but the sisters actually stop me after Mass and beg me to read to them. The are Word of God monsters!
@LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - Word of God monsters – I like that.
I do a lot of volunteer work…always have, from childhood on…currently I do fund raising for groups like American Cancer Society. I help with a community garden that provides veggies to families who are struggling financially. I help with a community Christmas project for families who won’t have any food or gifts without help. I help with a summer Block Party and a Fall Block Party that provide games, prizes, and free food to families. The Fall one is an alternative to Halloween for those people who don’t celebrate Halloween. I help with some summer day camps for kids. I help with a community food bank. In the Fall I hope to start visiting our local Senior Center again and taking my dog to visit the people there.
And so much more. If I’m needed and can help, I’m there. I get so much more out of it than the people we are helping. They are such a joy to me!

HUGS!
PS…that line about the slip and slide made me laugh!
@Randy7777 - Since cancer is a mutation of regular cells going out of control I sincerely doubt they will be able to cure it. But we’ll see.
@Randy7777 - Thanks for the encouragement……just wrote a post about mission trips!
Back inn high school, it was a requirement to have 40 hours of volunteer work. I used to help out in nursing homes, food kitchens, and teach Sunday CCD classes.
I volunteer with the Youth at church…midweek and on Sunday. We have built houses in Mexico, prep and pack the shoe boxes for Samaritans purse at the warehouse every year, glean vegetables to second harvest food bank, and other such things. Always looking for new ideas.
I volunteer at the prison. I usually sit with the mob bosses. I bring them wine, pasta and the movie of The Godfather so the can reminisce of the good old times.
I volunteer at PAWS_the local animal shelter.
After I die I will see those who went before me and my animals who I have loved and lost.
