Your Opinion Needed

Ted Bundy, in an interview, said that the society is a prisoner to a #value system. The point he was making was a value system made up by a society couldn’t be right. Thus killing couldn’t be wrong.
A poll was conducted on whether people agreed or disagreed with the Newsweek picture of Michelle Bachmann. Those that agreed didn’t like her politically.
I have to wonder what happens to a country when the value system is tied to a political system. We give the media free reign to do what ever they want as long as we don’t like what the person is saying.
There was outrage over a candidate using a target in a campaign add, stating it is causing crazy people to kill. Then the same party calls a group they don’t agree with, terrorists.Does America have a collective value system?

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
By a free country, I mean a country where people are allowed, so long as they do not hurt their neighbors, to do as they like. I do not mean a country where six men may make five men do exactly as they like. -Robert Cecil, British prime minister (1830-1903)

America was founded upon Judeo-Christian values.
Liberalism is a debased philosophy where the ends justify the means. And tyranny (government) is seen as the agent of social justice.
So in order to win, demonizing the opposition is justified and absolutely necessary. What person in their right mind would vote for tyranny?
Liberals have done such an outstanding job in demonizing their opposition over the decades that they own almost every major American institution: government, education, science and media.
I stay out of the game. It’s nonsense.
I don’t think there is a collective value system in America anymore. I believe there was until people took a step back and started saying, “This isn’t me… This isn’t what I believe…” Whether or not that’s a good thing still remains to be seen… But what one person values, another one trashes… and vice versa.
America definitely does NOT have a collective value system. Just a look around Xanga proves that. It IS a good thing, as it prevents tyranny and dicatorship. But some of the “values” America has turned to scare me.
I think many Americans are confused about values. When you turn from moral absolutes given by God to doing whatever seems right, you end up with problems.
Hey, you’re always saying that you don’t know much about Libertarianism… that quote is pretty much it!
A right that I and many other Americans enjoy is the right to pursue happiness. That’s a good one.
It depends. Neitzche said that the man without a conscience is god, because no one can stop him. In that case, Ted Bundy’s got it figured out.
I value my own mind and my ability to think freely, and my ability to worship freely. That is a right guaranteed by our Constitution as well.
I do not know if America has a collective value system and the right Americans enjoy is freedom of speech.
America has a collective value system. It’s called the dollar bill!
We use to have a collective value system. I don’t think that is true any more. What is right about America is the freedoms that we do have thanks to the brave men and women who have and continue to fight for those rights. Despite the bad economy, we still are much better off than most (if not all) other countries.
@LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - You probally like Ann Colter? – She says the same thing.
@jmallory - Thanks
@CrystallineFigurines - Yes – I agree. It is scary.
@ABAHM - We will serve something. If not God then human.
@WaitingToShrug -Thanks
@prettynpink628 - I’d go so far as to say a man without serving his god becomes a God in his own eyes.
@Grannys_Place - Thank you
@Stanelle - LOL
@stephensmustang - LOL
@Randy7777 - I admire Ann Coulter very much! She is one of the great voices for American values and a great warrioress against liberalism.
No, we now have a contentious collection of values systems. Perhaps we always have.
Our nation founded herself on this: that “we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
Oh, would that we could all hold that as a collective value system! Then what a glorious nation we would be!
@LoBornlytesThoughtPalace – agreed
@stephensmustang – yes America is a great nation
