  • Memories

I always enjoy going back into my childhood and reliving memories.  I grew up behind a gas station that my Dad managed and owned.  If I wasn’t on the roofs I was in the garage with all the old radios. I set it up like a space craft and went on many adventures.

What are some childhood memories you have?

Family Feud Question: Name a President from history.

  • That sounds like a fun memory. I don’t like living on memories. If I had to force myself to think about a childhood memory, I think it would take me a while to come up with a memory lol. The only thing I can think of right now is playing with Barbies and pretending to be someone I was not. I’d still love to pretend I am someone else.

  • My 12 year older brother would take me to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk and let me ride on the Merry-go-round and help he throw little metal rings into the mouth of an ape so it would make a sound. He was a wonderful brother and I was a brat.

  • I remember playing in the dirt with Matchbox cars. I also enjoyed all the band trips I went on (Washington DC, Opera Houses) when I was in middle school.

  • The comment about playing in the dirt reminded me of when my brother and I used to make mudpies in the backyard. And drip sand castles on the beach. It takes a certain kind of sand to make a good drip sand castle. You just dig down, take a handful of wet sand and let it drip out of your fist. We made some pretty ones. Of course they didn’t last long.

  • Abraham Lincoln

I remember running through the sprinkler in the summers, doing cartwheels on the grass ( fyi, don’t try a cartwheel if you are over 30, I did and wow, big mistake) riding my bike, swimming in the Ocean. Popcycles, the ice cream man, I could go on forever, ahhh to be a kid again.

  • One of my favorite memories involves my taking as many books as they’d lend me from my neighborhood library during the summer. Many of these were folk and fairy tales, especially those in the Andrew Laird’s series. I had made myself a perch up in a maple tree behind the garage (not used for a car, but a gathering place for me & my friends). I spent a lot of time sitting in that perch reading my books during the summer. If I saw any of my friends coming below, I’d climb down. Another favorite memory (which I include in my entertainment bio) is that in my grade school years, I got my friends together to put on shows for the neighborhood mothers during the war years. I have many precious memories from my childhood, though it was not an easy time. ~~Blessings, Prayers ‘n Cheers

  • I wanted to invent a time machine when I was a kid. I spent many hours in my garage working on it. To this day, I’m still at it. All I need now to finish it is a Cyllistrium Crystal, which has the power to bend space and time. I went to Wal Mart the other day to buy one but they were on back order.

  • Memories can make us smile. I’m glad you have yours to look back on.

  • @The_Eyes_Of_A_Painter – what is yesterday was tomorrow and the back order was actually on lay away and you got caught in that continuim?

  • I bet that was a fun childhood. I remember playing on the street as a kid. All the neighborhood kids….

  • @NightlyDreams – I take it you grew up in a city

  • @DonnaLou - That’s a great memory.  My wife also read a lot when she was young.

  • @Randy7777 - That’s true lol. You’re welcome! Have a blessed day!

  • @Randy7777 - ok, not one of my best ideas. I really thought it was like riding a bike. After nearly being hospitalized I found out, that, no, it isn’t.

  • Quite a few of my memories have to do with hospitals. I have one very vivid memory, from visiting the Western Wall with my brother. I blogged about it here.
